I’m a proud columnist for @independentaus, and I just wanted to offer a short thread about the serious sexual assault allegations currently and deservedly besetting the Morrison Federal Government. In March on IA, I identified at least 1/5
30 people ‒ cabinet ministers, the House Speaker, the Senate President and the PM’s most senior staff ‒ who knew about the “historical rape” claims, yet none informed PM Morrison until 2 years later? independentaustralia.net/politics/polit… 2/5
As I predicted in my column, with his Govt steeped in sickening rape & sexual assault allegations, Morrison wouldn't stand the minister aside, insisting it was a matter for police — because he knew criminal charges couldn't be pursued. 3/5
And that’s just what's happened. Thank you to over 46,000 of you who read & kept that story going.
I contribute to @IndependentAus because it pays its writers but shares news & ideas with everyone for free! Now times are hard & if just 10% of you subscribe 4/5
this important publication can keep thriving.

I received this post & I'm going to take it apart.

"Obviously this is too personal an issue for you to engage with rationally, if you think me critiquing Rowling's intervention is 'mocking' her disclosure of abuse. I will stop talking to you about it."
The author knows my history of csa. She is using this knowledge to discredit views I've expressed on Rowling's disclosure of her own abuse. She's doing this by telling me, publicly, that the issue is "too personal" for me to "rationally engage" with.
She's saying my particular point of view is invalid because I've experienced abuse. Survivors are not strangers to this gaslighting. It is particularly devastating: it says we are not allowed to have an opinion for no reason other than that we were abused.
