i just kinda want to say before my video on antisemitism in SFF and worldbuilding is released it's in a style of education on history and antisemitism in the real world and how it is being used and can be used in harmful ways and not at all "this bad, that good"
my video will be about creating a framework for the viewer to help them understand antisemitism in a broader perspective. i want to make sure i give the viewer keystones to use in their own research and reading of works. i want them to be able to connect dots maybe i haven't
im not the master of antisemitism either, so like i hope people won't make it my brand or something. my video is not going to be a master class and there's so many things i had to leave out
my viewer is also most likely not someone with tons of money so the majority of sources i will be linking are free sources. while my research ive done for a looooong time and it cost me money, im also jewish so much i just KNEW.
but my video is super condensed compared to what i actually wanted to fit in there. i will most likely be making more videos on the topic, but it will take time because i want to make it right

between 1934 and 1976 60,000 roma women in sweden were forcibly institutionalized and forced to perform labor, were basically tortured and gaslit, and then told the only way for them to leave was to get a procedure. they were never told what it was. they were sterilized
it was not until 1997 that this became public record.
they were targeted for being roma. being roma, being poor, was seen as a moral failure and a failure to white society.
thats roughly 60,000 women that could not bear children. swedens roma population rn is between 50k & 100k
many romani went into hiding in 1934 onward, afraid for their lives, and many families were assimilated. it's estimated 50,000 roma are still in hiding since.
okay, time for bed. it's 4 am and im a little shakey. ive felt really hyper vigilant the past 24 hours because of what has happened. anyway. take care of and check in with BIPOC and jewish communities tonight. especially asian and jewish.
if you're a writer now is a good time to ponder your own actions and unconscious biases. you can be a great person and still unconsciously have these biases. work to dismantle them, support marhinalised communities. listen to people affected. pay for sensitivity readers
