i. Freelancer
ii. Service provider
iii. Consultant
And that you have a skill that solves problems for people, but you would like to work with more high ticket clients.
i.e. People who won't price you cheaply
If that's the case...do this
1. Take your skill set(s) and go to chatgpt
Ask it to figure out which:
i. People
ii. Industry
Are in dire need of your skills
Your prompt can be
"I am a [skills] expert with over [years] of experience, I'm passionate about [problems you like solving]. I want you to research and tell me the Top 5 group of people and industry that have the problems I solve and would find it valuable"
Here’s how to reach out to your dream clients and get THEM to WANT to work with YOU.
1. Come up with a list of your dream clients 2. Follow them on all their socials. 3. Stay alert for shows or networking events they’ll attend.
This is the best way to reach them because usually…
Their social media is handled by someone/agency who would probably not relay your messages to them. But it still doesn’t hurt to DM them.
4. When you attend those events make sure you’ve done a bit of research on them…
5. Here’s the most important part: when you meet them do NOT act like a fan—don’t scream or fawn over them.
Call them by their first name not their stage name. “David” “Ayo” “Mark” etc.
This puts you in a different place in their mind
6. You want to get them TO WANT TO work with you. Here’s how you do that:
1. Give them a “stroke”: Hey “Celebrity”
I’ve got a really serious question… (pause for dramatic effect)
How do you do it?
Them: Do what?
You: Do what you do? Especially staying relevant all these years when most people who started with you have faded away?
(Questions are good openers/strokes for conversation because it allows them to talk which everyone likes to do)
Then.
2. 30 seconds Permission:
Most times these people are with guards, security, escort etc
And many other people want to talk to them…so they’re in a hurry. THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO PITCH YOUR SERVICE.
So say this instead
“I don’t know if this would be relevant to you…but would you be OPPOSED to me sharing a bit of what I do that could help you and if in 30 seconds you don’t feel like you want to have the conversation anymore you can just cut me off?”
They might be that busy or uninterested. This is why you should look presentable. It increases your chances of being listened to
