India's major cities are in the middle of harrowing, grim and deathly collapse of its healthcare system.

I have been trying (like many others) to help people find things that they need. Which has helped me see the ground situation

This is what's happening :
On the Virus front:
- daily case count breaking old records everyday
-very high & CLIMBING positivity ratio
-mutating into a super deadly strain that affects hitherto safer section of population (young peple) & spreading exponentially faster than past strains
-worsened symptoms
On the resource front (major cities):

Absolutely nothing is available w/o deep research & reaching out 100s of leads

-100% occupancy in ICU beds with very high number of waitlist, patients waiting outside in ambulances. The demand remains higher than supply at all times.
- Most non ICU available beds are w/o oxygen (O2) or ventilators
- people forced to secure and administer O2 at home
- Which can be administered either through a Concentrator or Cylinder with Flowmeter
- Concentrator are extremely scarce. Being sold for upto 90k (100% premium)
- Cylinders available through some charities, volunteers or limited dealers.
- 10-50x demand > supply
- Cost premium of 3-10x on everything, the cylinder, the O2, the flow regulator, everything.

A 40 ltr capacity filled cylinder available at 45k (4-5x premium). Verified today.
- People waiting for hours in queue for procurement & refilling
- O2 demand up over 100% & supply falling (atleast in Delhi)
Battle on both fronts
- The biggest hospitals are begging for O2. Using social media to amplify their requests

COURTS HAVE TO INTERVENE TO GET THEM SUPPLY
- Commonly prescribed drugs are all out of stock in hospitals.

-Only way to get them is to either:
Pay 10x markup for illegal supplies,
or
To wait in lines in early morning with exhaustive paperwork at select locations in the entire state, who run out of them in hours
-The cost of the things that are hard to replenish/produce quickly is rising everyday, obviously

- PEOPLE ARE UNABLE TO GET TESTED

The testing centres (Pvt and state) are overwhelmed by the demand.
Long waiting & delays in bookings & results.
-Labs halting home collection
- People pulling strings and trading favors just to get tested.

- Mind you, testing positive is mandatory to qualify for hospital admissions and medicine, equipment procurement legally.
- In a race against time, the system is forcing one to waste it. Literally killing people
- Dedicated covid hospitals, despite physically bad conditions, are refusing to admit patients without confirmed test reports (which are super delayed)
- Even if they admit, they are telling people to procure essential life saving drugs and O2 themselves.
- Hospitals have exhausted their plasma banks & can't perform the most common treatment, CONVALESCENT PLASMA THERAPY

People have to fend for themselves & find a donor, they are pleading on social media.

Hundreds of fresh plasma requests generated in a day in Delhi
- This is where the silver lining is.

The crises, the resources crunch, has bought people together.
Influencers, volunteers and organisations are helping in procuring and coaliting resources
It is a sight to behold

The system has failed the people, but people are saving people.
On the economic front:

- All major cities are under partial or complete lockdown
- All non essential economic activity is rightly halted
- The situation unfairly affects the poorer the harshest
- Stock mkt remains unaffected
On the humanitarian front:

- Migrant workers in economic hub are rushing back to their towns.
Remembering the horrors of last year's mass migration and the countless deaths due to hunger, thirst, lack of shelter and tracking 100s of miles on foot

- Vulnerable are dying alone
-People losing all savings in treatments & still unable to save their loved ones, waiting for hours with bodies because crematoriums are overloaded

-Social distancing rules depriving people from performing proper funeral rites
Rows of burning pyres in every inch of crematoriums
On the political front:

-Election and rallies by candidate parties are still happening with 1000s of people (now capped by the EC to 500), while the financial and the political capital were collapsing

- States infighting for resources and blocking crucial supplies
- Centre completely toothless and driven by political greed. Favoring the ruling states and putting cheap politics above human lives

- local ministers blocking essential O2 trucks for photo-ops while hospitals have mere hours of reserves left

- Right out of Trump's playbook.
So:
A REAL pandemic combined with,
Political myopia and sinister incentives
Incompetent bureaucracy
Desperate & dying population
Critical supplies running out
Woefully digitally unprepared courts
No disaster foresight
No transparency

Brings you poverty, death, despair and chaos
INDIA is going through what every epidemiologist, every scientist, every healthcare worker, every concerned citizen of the world feared.

The overwhelming and collapse of its healthcare system and loss of colossal magnitude.

(I have had to leave out so many little details about the ground situation, lest the thread would become endless

Just imagine it's worse than whatever you think is happening and it's headed for even more darkness

I know people who are helping and breaking down at the visuals)
Will be sharing the latest updates related to ground situation:

Another big name chain of hospitals approached High Court.
The advocate is also representing another hospital simultaneously.
A visual from a crematorium in Delhi.
Warning: Disturbing imagery

So many people are dying simultaneously that we don't have space to put the pyres in

High court: The worst is yet to come. We're looking at a very bleak near future. Need to take massive action or unimaginable chaos will take place

Batra hospital fighting for patients lives. They have almost ran out of oxygen a few times already.
Till when can we let this happen?

Delhi needs oxygen.

This is a screenshot from a resource aid social media account.
People are saving people by sharing such critical information in real-time

But see the details of how selective the hospitals are in their admissions right now. Only accepting people who are least likey to die. 💔 Image
This is insta story of a gem of a human being who is putting herculean effort to get scarce resources to the needful.

So many angelic people have rose up to the occasion and are doing the work that the system collapse has forced them to do.
SOCIAL MEDIA IS OUR HEALTHCARE NOW Image

My thoughts on things:
On change, how it actually happens, how to make it stick and how to fuck it up

What is the present moment?
It vanishes as we reach out to touch it.
"The more closely we observe it, the more amorphous is becomes."

We see a Wave at a beach and percieve it, we understand that there is no such real 'thing' as a wave. Should we look at time the smae way?
What is 'self' in this flow of time?

Like ocean waves, an endlessly generating process?

Memories from past, shaping the perception and experience of the present moment

"We’re always residing in the here and now, yet each moment is instantaneously swept away by a ghostly breeze"

thinking about how our entire optical field is a fraction of a sliver of the whole electromagnetic spectrum. That fraction is called The Visible Light Spectrum. This fraction iss such a small part of the entire spectrum that if we were to round that number off, it would be zero
And within this visible spectrum, somehow, we have mapped different wavelenghts (colors) to different emotions they evoke.
We still don't know how each individual percieves these wavelenghts!
The color that I percieve as red, could very well be appearing green in your brain, but you'll only call it red because that's what you've been taught. wild

I used to think it's a sad boi love song but apparently it's about self love and discovering the feeling of home. Hits home for me (hehe)

This one is a lyrical and melodic beaut

The guy talks about the spellbound beauty of his love. He is entranced and experiences a divine epiphany when he tries to put his feelings into words.

How can one truly change for the better?
By understanding first that it is a long journey and results are going to come slower than we want. Which is alright.

By having a positive purpose for going for it, in the first place.

By taking a small step towards it consistently. It only works out when we actually do it.
By becoming what you want to see more of in the world.

- Want better vibes? Go and create them
- Want people to love you? Go and spread love out there
- Want to have better friendships? Start with being a better friend
- Want to become valuable? Go and create value for others
