To date, Disney World has laid off nearly 18,000 people, with thousands more placed on an extended furlough.

As of December 2020, the park had reportedly begun to call back some of its employees, though many still remain on furlough or laid-off.

For some who were let go, the emotional toll of losing a job at Disney rivaled the financial one.

Many employees grew up enchanted by the park’s magic and built family-like communities ties among co-workers.

Some moms say parenting got much easier after their relationships ended due to stress from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here's why. 👇

insider.com/moms-pandemic-…
Endless hours spent in quarantine made it clear that Chelsey Wiley and her then-husband weren't seeing eye to eye on parenting.

Before her separation, Wiley "was horrified about parenting alone," she said.

When she and her daughters moved into their own home, Wiley found that co-parenting with her ex was, in fact, easier.

She could set clear rules and expectations, which resulted in fewer messes, more efficiently completed household tasks, and more sleep.

Girl Scout cookie season is upon us. But @girlscouts, and the women who lead their troops during cookie season, say that the organization's tradition of face-to-face sales is increasingly accompanied by customer harassment. 👇

insider.com/girl-scout-coo…
From 5-year-old Daisies to 16-year-old Senior Scouts, girls are often forced to bear angry tirades from adults who want to lecture them about healthy eating, moan about price hikes, or rant about the group's rumored (and false) link to Planned Parenthood.

A recent post about cookie-seller harassment in a popular Facebook parenting group netted more than 100 replies, with dozens of stories from troop leaders and other adult volunteers about what their Scouts endured.

The weirdest book in the world — that no one can read — just turned 40.

Italian artist Luigi Serafini gives @thisisinsider a look inside the 40th anniversary edition of his beautifully bizarre Codex Seraphinianus. ⬇️

Serafini, 72, began creating his Codex in the mid-1970s.

It’s like something you’d find on a shelf in Dr. Strange’s library — an arcane artifact that’s recognizably a book, just not one from our reality.

Though his images are often grotesque or disturbing, Serafini’s vibrant colored pencils can render them soft and whimsical.

Serafini, for his part, didn’t exactly know what he was setting out to do in creating the Codex.
