When Aizawa Shouta was 35 he had sold at least 10 million copies of his novel. He had a small house for himself, three cats that are continuously growing fatter, and one divorce under his belt.

Life was good. Peaceful.

Until 22 year old Midoriya Izuku happened.
He was in his balcony, on the second floor of his house, elbows leaning against the railing while lips cradled a cigarette when the greenette came.

Izuku stood outside his house, hands holding wild flowers that he seemed to have picked somewhere. His big green eyes —
— looked straight to his eyes.

"Please date me!" He screamed, head down, arms up offering him the flowers.

Shouta wanted to laugh because it was like some scene from a school play but also he was too startled at what happened that the cigarette fell off his lips.
What the fuck?

The older guy scratches the back of his head, answering Izuku. "I don't even know you, kid."

"A-ah, yeah! I am Midoriya Izuku! I live on the other street!"

Shouta sighed, "Go home, kid. Find someone your age or something better to do."
"Does this mean you are rejecting me?" Izuku asked, still holding on to his assortment of wild flowers.

"Yes."

"Can you at least think about it?"

"No."

"Can you try to give me a chance?"

"No."

"Even if I go back here everyday and try my luck?"

Shouta narrowed his eyes.
He could feel a headache coming. With how the kid's green eyes sparkled, he knew the idiot was more determined than ever.

"Don't bother me. And even if you go here everyday I won't change my mind."

Izuku looked at him, skeptical, "How sure are you?"

"Hundred percent."
The greenette gave a thoughtful hum. "You wouldn't mind if I challenge that hundred percent right?"

Shouta could feel his veins popping. He knew it. This kid is a problem child.

"I would, don't go back here and date someone your age. You are wasting your time."
He shook his head, grabbing his pack and getting another stick to light.

"But you're the one I like." Izuku pouted, looking at the flowers he was holding.

Shouta could ask him questions. Ask him why would he even like an old man like him but asking him means indulging him.
The goal is to rid him and not give him more reason to stay even if that reason only involves answering questions from him.

So Shouta didn't say anything anymore. He just lit his cigarette and pretended that Izuku was not in front of his house, holding flowers in his hands.
True to his words, Izuku came back the next day. This time he doesn't have flowers with him but a mini cake that he baked. He left them in front of Shouta's door where he also left the flowers.

The greenette would try to talk to Shouta even when he had to shout and look up.
Everyday, Izuku went back bringing different gifts for him. Shouta tried to ignore them but he always ends up getting the gift whenever Izuku leave.

He learned that the guy was a student and he grew up in the neighborhood. Izuku had also been seeing him for the last five years.
But only decided to confess to him after turning 22. Through his everyday visits, Shouta learned more about him even when there was the distance between him and the balcony.

Without noticing it, he started looking forward to seeing Izuku visit him and whatever he has for him.
After two weeks of constant visit, Izuku suddenly didn't visit him. Shouta told himself that maybe the kid was busy or that he was caught up with something.

The next day, Izuku didn't visit as well.

On the third day, Shouta was forced to admit to himself that he missed him.
Missed the overly sweet cakes he brings. Missed his attempt to try to make him agree to date him.

After a week, Izuku finally visited him. But this time he was bruised, bandaged, and he looked tired but he smiled brightly, waving to him.
Worried, Shouta finally went down to meet him.

"What happened to you?"

"Oh this, nothing. It's just a little accident." Izuku smiled. "Here." He handed him a knitted scarf. "I worked on it when I was in the hospital since it's starting to get colder."
Shouta found out that the kid was caught into an accident that took away the life of his mother.

"My dad came back and I will be leaving with him to States. I am sad because I am leaving soon." Izuku chuckles. "Good thing you didn't agree to date me, I'd hate to leave you."
Shouta gave a tight nod.

"But thank you for entertaining me the past weeks." Izuku smiled.

"I didn't entertain you or anything, Kid." Shouto sighed, scratching the back of his head.

Izuku smiled. "You did. In your own way. And thank you for that."
Shouta wasn't able to say anything because there was just no way he could deny what Izuku told him.

Sighing, the older guy stared at him, "Why did you want to date me?"

Izuku met his eyes. Surprised at his sudden question.

"You told me you wanted to date me right? Why?"
"I just like you." Izuku beamed. "I like how you talk to your cats, the way you always stay in your balcony looking at the sky and thinking deeply."

Silence.

"Just because of that?"

"Hmm!" Izuku nodded.

Shouta chuckled.
The older guy ruffles his loose green hair, "I'm sure you'll find someone you'll like better."

"Maybe." Izuku shrugged. "But I won't find someone I like the same way I like you."

Shouta smiled.

"Cause there's no same kind of love, right?" Izuku asked.
Shouta turned to look at him, hearing a quote from the novel he wrote.

"Yeah, that's right because there's never the same kind of love."

That day, Izuku bade him farewell. There was no plans made. No promises left. Only wishes of happiness and health.
After thay, Izuku never came back. Somehow Shouta still waited for him by his balcony with his cigarette, a half empty mug of coffee and an unfinished manuscript sitting on his study table.

His eyes will always dart in front of his house, somehow searching for green curls.
Shouta finally admitted to himself that somehow he did like Izuku after 2 weeks that the younger guy didn't show up.

Maybe it wasn't the way Izuku hoped for but it was something not Shouta planned himself.

Once he figured it, he allowed himself to wallow in sadness.

—..
When Aizawa Shouta was 37, his new novel was published. He still stayed on the same house but this time he had two new cats.

He took a break, walking to his balcony with a stick of cigarette between his lips. His eyes darted on the mop of green hair in front of his house.
He looked older than the last time, his clothing choice have changed. And instead of wild flowers, he was holding a bouquet Shouta knew he bought from some flower shop.

"Please date me!" Izuku bowed down, offering the flower to him.

Shouta grinned, "Welcome back, Kid."
Izuku beamed brightly. "I'm back Aizawa-san."
