Overland Park Police were called to check on a suicidal 17-year-old boy, who dispatchers were told "had been cutting himself and was threatening to stab himself"

Cops said "challenge accepted" and blew the kid away

The city paid out $2.3M to the family in a wrongful death suit
I was going to say "this happened 3 years ago so yes we have all the facts," but I noticed it was a new account with 0 followers and 50% of its tweets were whining about how cops are amazing and we're being so mean to them and etc

Some people need a hobby
This too

But also: most people leisurely walk at 2.5-3mph. There is absolutely no chance this guy was running anywhere

I hope the mayor calls on law enforcement to remain calm. Cops rioting is not the answer.

BOTW is thoroughly addicting! 😆

We've got like 6 games on the Switch, which we've owned for months now. BOTW is now the most-played by a couple orders of magnitude, even though we just got it a few weeks ago
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

It's the very first "open world" video game I've ever played (unless you count the DOS AD&D games as open world as well) and it's awesome
Negative. I've killed all but the silver-maned ones at least once, but I burn through too many weapons to make it worthwhile

Gotta cancel tonight's Twitch stream y'all, some unexpected work stuff has come up 😒
Zelda is always preferable

Mrs asks me to entertain her now by playing BOTW and working through the puzzles together, it's quite fun ☺️ just doesn't pay bills

Law enforcement playing dumb about incriminating evidence against themselves that they have in their possession?

I, for one, am shocked
Funny you should ask!

Bipartisan supermajorities of Rs and Ds passed a law to create that nightmare back in 2016, called H972: twitter.com/i/events/78718…

The bill's apologists insisted its problems would be fixed in the next session. Half a decade later, it's still untouched
To his credit, Senator Jeff Jackson (@JeffJacksonNC) was the only Democrat in the State Senate to vote against H972

H972 passed 48-2 in the State Senate, 88-20 in the State House, and was promptly signed by our muppet then-Governor Pat McCrory (@PatMcCroryNC)

This is laughably false, and anyone who believes it likely works in law enforcement

And it often applies things that *are* declared illegal as well; it doesn't come into play in criminal prosecutions, but it's granted freely in civil lawsuits seeking compensation for the criminal act

See, e.g., Jessop v Fresno. Cops stole $$$$$$$$$ and got QI anyway

None. In practice, the DA would object to it being mentioned at all and the judge would likely agree
Basically "whatever may or may not have happened in any other case can't apply in this case unless you have evidence that it happened here too"
