The great tragedy of it is, they KNOW what they will do to us with #IndependentAssessments, but they do not care.…

Read this, all of it - think of the 270,000 people shoved off the DSP onto Newstart.

And then think about THIS.
2/ That the common elements in what they are doing are just LAZY. In 2015, it was all about 'we want to focus on your ability, not your disability' and they are saying the same now - even though they are literally cutting out any of our lives by measuring impairments.
3/ That they KNOW that these things do not work and they have been told this over and over in repeated submissions. 'The NSSRN has expressed concerns about the use of video conferencing and
telephone medical assessments, particularly as these mostly occur for claimants who...'
4/ 'live in rural or remote locations.
6.3.10 The case of BA, as detailed below, illustrates the issues arising from short consultations and the use of video conferencing equipment.' pp 21
Imagine KNOWING this, then saying 'well we won't let them see their own doctor/specialist.' Image
5/ The thing is, government folk - you are not just talking about the people who have been systematically disenfranchised over decades, here, no matter how much you'd like to believe that. The NDIS is not means tested.

You're also talking about your voting base.
6/ This is a bad, bad idea. There is significant evidence that it will result in trauma, poor outcomes and almost certainly end of life for many people.

Tell us - how many people have died since 2015 while on Jobseeker after being thrown off DSP?

This is - breathtaking.

In comments likely to rile some advocates, Reynolds pointed to data showing that since 2017 there had been a “significant drop” in people classified in the scheme as “high functioning” and a “significant increase” in those who were “low functioning”.
2/ “If you think about the implications of that, it’s quite alarming,” Reynolds said. “Is the NDIS actually making people less functional over time? So those are one of the many questions we need to have a look at … to work out what is happening and how it becomes sustainable.”
3/ I mean, there are three likely explanations, which the minister appears to have overlooked.

Outside of the fact that I am not sure who collects data of that description and how it’s collected.

One is that people aren’t getting into the scheme unless wildly disabled.

Good grief.

Minister Reynolds says that people in Halls Creek should have the same funding packages as people in Canberra.

Let's take a deep breath, people. Let's look at that.

This is Halls Creek. We all know Canberra, right?

2/ This is what Halls Creek looks like.
A population of 3,269. Versus, of course, 395,790 in Canberra. In 2016, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people made up 67.6% of the population. Versus 0.02% in Canberra.

You know how much Aboriginal people trust wadjela services?
3/ I'm talking to Far North Community Services right now. They don't actually know what delivery is done in Halls Creek, cos they're Broome. Let me look, shall I?

I can find - two that deliver in Halls Creek.

This org has an annual income of $615K.…

Oh my god.

Minister Linda Reynolds just said that she has been pretty clear that there is a need for some form of functional assessment and that it is 'in the legislation'.
Senator Steele-John is saying she is pre empting the outcome on the outcome of the model. #RoboNDIS
2/ She is saying that 'we must have some form of functional independent assessments'. And that she is committed to that.

As I said, the Minister has picked a side. And it is not ours.
3/ She is saying that this is about us having fair, transparent, consistent decisions made and getting fairer outcomes.

There is a long, long silence, and Senator Steele John says very slowly, the entire disability community says this will not work.

Minister Hoffman is citing disability related health supports. And let me tell you about THAT, friends. Go talk to Darren over at Elba about the quads stuck in hospital for a year who can't actually get their food out the fridge because the Serco staff 'aren't authorised'.
2/ What he is saying is that they will not fund a support worker if you are in hospital because it would be a duplication of support. We fought this for YEARS in WA.

I went to see a quad at FSH. He had a food allergy so his parents had been in with special food. Nope.
3/ He couldn't eat it because the staff were not authorised to get it out the fridge for him. I went to make a cup of tea for him and was told that I could not do that (in the visitors lounge) unless I did a machinery handling safety induction. FOR A KETTLE.

Ah. I see now.

@d_hardaker wrote this excellent piece on former federal cabinet minister Michael Keenan, who shot off to become the CEO of Sana Living, which is backed by - yes, APM.

But what he didn't write about was the OTHER conflict of interest.

2/ Keenan was the Minister for Human Services and the Minister Assisting the PM for Digital Transformation in the Morrison government from 2017. The time that former NDIA CEO Rob De Luca jumped in and jumped back out to leave and set up a bunch of companies.

Opportunity knocks.
3/ Keenan was involved in the Digital ID as per this press release.… Insider information? When it comes to planning, including independent assessments, well, yes.

The blockchain project had rolled out before he left.…
