There is a transcription typo which will be fixed. Willie Hobbs Moore was the first African American *woman* to earn a PhD. Edward Bouchet was the first man, about 100 years before. He was the first African American to earn a PhD in the United States in any subject. #BlackandSTEM
Dr. Moore was the first African American *woman* to earn a PhD in *physics* -- just for clarity.
"we have to grapple with these alternative futures that were foreclosed because of White supremacy, because of patriarchy."

We finished it today! #RutherfordFalls definitely deserves a second, third, fourth, and fifth season. It is excellent and mediocre white shit gets renewed all the time.

I hope future seasons decenter Nathan Rutherford. Minishonka characters (Native actors!) can carry the show!
I do think an interesting dynamic to unpack more fully in #RutherfordFalls is how the barrier breaking Black woman mayor necessarily represents the interests of the colonial state and how this is a *real* tension in how our communities are confronting what it means to have power
On the one hand I don’t want a Black woman to represent the colonial state and on the other hand the current setup of political dynamics is such that Black people — even sometimes Black Natives — can only find government representation through these colonial governments

Lots to think about here, but in particular the way so many different so-called grassroots organizations pivoted so completely toward electoral politics. I disagree with this choice, even though I am a person who believes in voting as an important tactic.

Also, in case you missed it, @hrw released a report this week saying that Israel is guilty of the crimes of apartheid and persecution.

"Several widely held assumptions, including that the occupation is temporary, that the “peace process” will soon bring an end to Israeli abuses, that Palestinians have meaningful control over their lives in the West Bank and Gaza, and that Israel is an egalitarian democracy

I can’t deal with Tuvix
People projected a lot onto ^ tweet. LOL

I did not have the emotional experience with the episode that other people did.

Also, I think Ethan Phillips is great but goddamn I could not stand Neelix (it was the writing/personality, not the acting)
Voyager had the best captain-from-season-one-onward but there were so many mistakes made with that show, including casting a non-Native American as the first major Native character in the franchise and then having him be developed by a non-Native charlatan

What a mess
