Guys who own restaurants love posting stuff like "it's impossible to hire someone for [unpleasant skilled job] right now. As proof, I was unable to find someone even offering [wage that works out to $31,000/year if it's a full 40 hours a week, which it isn't]"
Frankly I suspect the "worker who told the boss they're turning down the job because they're collecting enhanced UI instead" is as mythical as the Cadillac driving welfare queen.
"oh well it didn't happen to me but it happened to a friend of mine" etc etc

Add some roof decks and I think this is close to the ideal neighborhood form.
There are a lot of advantages to having your home be spread out onto multiple floors imho. Some tradeoffs and it's not for everyone but it's frankly my preference and the preference of a lot of other people. (1/2)

Democrats now know that Manchin will oppose necessary steps to stop Republicans from stealing the 2024 election and gerrymandering themselves into a permanent Congressional majority. So what next?
It'd be nice to know they had some kind of plan or even a survival instinct but the current plan seems to be "fuck around for two years and hope it all somehow works out"
Dem leaders seemingly learned nothing from January 6 or Trump's attempt to steal the election and if anything seem like the fact they were unsuccessful in toppling the nation reassured them rather than unsettled them.

"Hold up! Your so-called "plan" will require millions of acres of otherwise disused land to be put to productive use"

Like, yes. We've got a bunch to spare. It's fine?
I'm driving from San Diego to Phoenix tomorrow, I'll let you guys know if I spot a spare acre or two on the way.

I don't know if there's a better encapsulation of "one mroe lane will fix it" ideology than to look at a city nearly destroyed by freeways like Baltimore City and thinking the JFX is the only thing keeping it alive.
Correct. The bold proposal would be to tear it out below Cold Spring Lane, Penn Station and below is a no brainer

MLB virtually guaranteed this by moving in fences, juicing the ball and allowing grounds crews to install slower infields. Rewards for spraying balls in play with contact relative to three-true-outcomes/pulling the ball for power have never been lower
Every change they've made to the game has made it easier for plodding sluggers in the Adam Dunn mold to produce runs and harder for high contact/never strike out singles hitters like Tony Gwynn to produce runs, on the theory that fans like more home runs.
And the frequently floated solution - ban the shift! - just doubles down on this mistake by doing an enormous favor to pull hitters (who strike out and walk more) who get shifted on relative to spray hitters (who tend to put more balls in play)

Legitimately possible that "regular season baseball game airing against the Oscars telecast" is the most mainstream attention a game involving a San Diego team has received since the 94 Super Bowl
I hate so much that this is going to go to the sham "runner starts on second" extra innings. A travesty.
