The national media could learn from @WITF, which isn't simply forgetting that 147 Republicans opposed democracy on Jan 6, seizing on lies to try and overturn a free and fair election after a violent Trump-incited mob attacked the Capitol:
The disregard 147 Republicans showed for democracy, their willingness to disenfranchise millions of Americans to try and maintain power, is essential to understanding and covering politics today, which includes the GOP's voter suppression efforts ahead of 2022/24.
And yet some outlets interview, say, Kevin McCarthy and Steve Scalise as if we didn't witness what they and 145 of their Republicans did on Jan. 6—or networks book election deniers to continue fueling the Big Lie
As @Sulliview notes, @jaketapper and @CNNSotu stand out for not booking members of the "Sedition Caucus"
Putting Jan 6 in the rearview may help a reporter/host get an interview with a Republican election denier, but they're missing a critical part of the story given that the Big Lie is now the pretext for voter suppression and a view that dominates the GOP
Indeed, "for Republicans, fealty to Trump’s election falsehood becomes defining loyalty test"

"Hostility and distrust of the news media, in other words, has become a point of political identity among Republicans."
Yet Republicans appear quick to trust conspiracy theories or Trump lies. A new Reuters poll finds half of Republicans believe the deadly, pro-Trump attack on the Capitol "was largely a non-violent protest or was the handiwork of left-wing activists"
Same poll finds that "six in 10 Republicans also believe the false claim put out by Trump that November’s presidential election 'was stolen' from him due to widespread voter fraud."

Is the WSJ editorial board too cozy with the Bradley Foundation? @WilliamCohan digs in
WSJ’s edit board has criticized Sheldon Whitehouse in more than two dozen unsigned editorials over the past 14 months, including his recently warning during SCOTUS hearings of “dark money” and groups like the Bradley Foundation.
“The prizes and the Bradley Foundation have no influence on what we write,” says Paul Gigot, who accused Whitehouse of attempting "to smear anyone who disagrees with him with false political conspiracy theories.”

I was in a park in Brooklyn this morning. I saw people running, walking dogs, doing yoga, as well as kids playing. No cop cars on fire. But here is @NBCNewYork playing into the Trump administration’s alternate reality version of NYC.
While local NBC affiliate digs up a burning cop car photo, NY1 goes with damage to a store front from June 2

Pence's office is declining to allow CNN to book top public health officials unless the network airs Trump's briefings, which have devolved into marathon sessions of falsehoods and petty grievances.
Trump is in control in the briefing room: He can call on whomever he wants, leave when he wants, dismiss questions he doesn't want to answer. It's like what we saw over the summer with chopper talk:
What about participating in a rigorous TV interview with sustained questions? As @oliverdarcy notes: "Trump has also declined CNN's repeated requests for an interview, instead appearing only on Fox News for softball interviews multiple times during the national emergency."

It’s @joepompeo and Jeff Zucker at SXSW
On additional WarnerMedia sports role, Zucker says his "two passions in life are news and sports,” but that CNN remains his primary focus.
Zucker says he believes there was political motivation, reaching up to Trump, in trying to block the AT&T- Time Warner deal.
