“Stop making up labels for totally normal identities” You know what other totally normal things we’ve needed to make up words for? Literally EVERYTHING!!! We INVENTED language!! You know what we do when we have an experience there isn’t a word for yet? We make. One. Up.
And if you don’t feel the need to use one of these said labels... guess what?? That’s totally cool!! It doesn’t matter. If a label helps someone express/understand themselves and their experiences, that’s great!
So I was talking about this with my mom who’s a writer and she was like “language is a tool for expression” LIKE THATS IT. That right there is it.

I don’t know if it was intentional but Billie Eilish dropped all of this on the second day of mental health awareness month and as someone whose self esteem and sense of self worth has suffered tremendously at the hands of the male gaze, it’s very fucking powerful.
Did this person really just use: “it’s all in your head” in an attempt to justify all bigotry?
ID of the first image: an expert from billies new article with vogue. The screenshot starts with “the pop star says media representation” and ends with “just because you’re turned on by me.” You can read the full article here: google.com/amp/s/www.vogu…

So-called “cringe culture” that overlaps a LOT with common neurodivergent traits/habits etc:

- getting really excited about things

- using tone indicators

- spending lots of time “in your own word”

- “childish” interests

- “quirky” texting patterns

- social awkwardness
There are more but these are the first few that popped into my head. Anyway cringe culture is usually riddled with ableism
A lot of the “cringe” stuff I did as a teen/preteen was definitely very ADHD related

Universal healthcare won’t magically get rid of bad doctors and medical discrimination
I don’t think this is controversial, I just think people forget about it
Literally have friends who live in counties with socialized health care and they still have HUGE problems getting quality medical care when they need it.

Open this thread if you feel like your mind is your worst enemy.
I don’t know exactly what you’re going through. I don’t know exactly how it feels. But I know that it’s really hard. I know that every day feels like an uphill battle.
It feels like your mind is working against you. And it’s not fair that your own brain, your own thoughts, your own emotions do everything they can to keep you from living the life you want to live.

Does anyone else with ADHD and social anxiety feel like they’re living in a constant battle between saying everything that pops into their head immediately and staying quiet so people will think they’re normal and not annoying?
Class participation is an uphill battle
Like maybe people without ADHD experience this? That’s also very valid. I just think my hyper verbal-ness makes this a lot worse
