“A mythologizing mood is also why new variants, including the scary-sounding “double mutant,” feature so prominently in Western accounts. Viruses mutate, yes—some 300,000 distinct Covid-causing strains are estimated to exist. The flu also mutates…
…Focusing on mutations apparently is less unsettling than acknowledging a truth: For billions of humans, Covid is less dangerous than the actions we urge on them to stop its spread, many of which aren’t realistically sustainable for the periods they would need to be sustained…
by the people who would need to sustain them.” Also another good quote from the article: “This is not true of a demographic phenomenon like India, which quickly learned that a three-week shutdown posed more of a threat to many citizens’ personal survival than Covid did.”

Essentially, the false positive rate is causing this. Remember when Fauci said full reopening shouldn’t happen until less than 11,000 cases per day? Even if testing rates fall, you’ll still always have thousands of false positives each day as PCR is detecting dead viral particles
More info on the high cycle thresholds in PCR picking up non-infectious viral particles that real viral cultures would otherwise show as negative: nytimes.com/2020/08/29/hea…

Great article in NR that completely shreds the bogus headline from the the Yahoo article on excess mortality in FL. Here is a thread of the various epidemiologists/public health officials debunking the conspiracy theories pushed by Dems (1/8)@MaxNordau nationalreview.com/news/yahoo-sto…
"Jason Salemi, an epidemiologist at USF who was also quoted, described Florida’s excess deaths as “kind of middle-of-the-pack,” and told Yahoo its framing of excess mortalities — treating them all as COVID deaths that slipped through official counts — was incorrect." (2/8).
Salemi: “I don’t think there’s anything egregious going on with the data. I would know. I am just constantly in these data.” (3/8)
