I was on a plane with a soldier I was dating when we got the news. Everybody’s phones lit up. We had just returned from a predeployment event because he was heading to Afghanistan in a few months. Bin Laden was dead, he still went to Afghanistan, 2011 sucked, war is awful.
But @sundaylongread is very very good. Anyway @DVNJr and @JacobFeldman4 curate incredible stories that will kick you in the teeth, break your heart, and/or inspire you.
My hot take: war is bad, longform journalism is great. Wow.
Anyway. Memory is a strange thing. I have no memory of some moments and deeply embedded memories of others. I suppose that’s how it is for many of us.

I had to talk to a bank man about a mortgage and he asked me out while looking at my bank statements for the past several years, which is kind of like being asked out by a proctologist during an exam. I invented a boyfriend.
I didn't get to share my fake boyfriend's backstory with the bank man, who was creepy, but my fake boyfriend was named James and he did light carpentry and was expanding his remodeling business soon. James was born within ten seconds and died as soon as I escaped the bank.
I know the bank man was bonkers because I know what my bank statements look like and if that's what he's into, YIKES, sir. You could do better.

Look, the monarchy is gross and should be abolished, etc., but I would just say that if a crowd of people greeted ME like this, I too would say, "FAREWELL TO THEE AND THEE AND THEE" to all of my royal family in NJ and I would fuck off to my true kingdom: Illinois (or whatever).
And then I'd do good stuff and have a hot wife, anyway, definitely Harry and I are the same.
Moving to Illinois from NJ is the same as moving from England to California, definitely the same. Wow, me and Harry continue to be so relatable to others.

One thing they don’t tell you about writing for screens is that a lot of writers get paid to write beautiful & interesting (& sometimes crappy) stories that never actually get made. When I was a kid I just thought that you wrote a script, it got filmed, and then you bought a pony
I know people who bought houses because they were careful with their money and saved up from a bunch of stuff that didn’t get made. I was able to pay off part of a student loan, which tells you what MY quote is 😬
A SMALL PART OF IT.

Since ppl are going outside more, it is time for my semiannual reminder that anybody can get skin cancer, regardless of skin tone, and while I am a pallid ghost girl who had it EARLY when I was a teen (Rare! Not great!) it is important to learn the signs. skincancer.org/early-detectio…

I’m just going to keep wearing masks as long as I feel like it, which will be forever.
Like I don’t want the flu or cold and masks make my eyes look bigger, truly a fashion win
Also it’s much easier to sneer under a mask

I went to the bathroom and left a first floor window open in the living room and my cat casually PUNCHED THE SCREEN OUT and went for a little evening walk by herself and immediately came back in when I offered treats. Normal.
Sigh.
Holy shit she caught it. Anyway, welcome to my thrilling life.
