WOW this is interesting!

So I just noticed the Collect for Easter V in the 1979 BCP (left) is an adaptation of the old (1662–1928, etc.) Collect for Ss Philip & James Day. Which I suppose is a nod to that Feast always falling around that time in Eastertide? ImageImage
So the Gospel reading for Philip+Jas was Jn 14.1–14 (currently 14.6–14), and ofc the old Collect quotes 14.6 "I am the way, the truth, etc." The 1979 collect does not carry this allusion.
Jn 14.1–14 is now in Year A of the RCL, so the Collect synergy appears only once per 3 yrs. ImageImageImageImage

#rememberingRHE I had not read her stuff in quite awhile. But I remember when her husband updated her blog to say she was hospitalized... and then no news for a week. Then on FB I notice a link with her picture. I didn't even read the title; I just knew. I groaned inside.
In college she helped me to consider how questioning some of the assumptions around sexuality in my Christian formation was more than a scared choice, or a confused choice, but a brave one. And this was paired with a deep love for our Lord and the Scriptures. That's discipleship.
I appreciated how I could be bedfellows with another Episcopalian who loved the Bible and the BCP along with LGBTQ affirmation and women in ministry, pursuing life in Christ with the confidence that these two dimensions of Church were syllables of each other.
