Mostly I just hope after this trial that Epic and Apple can get back to making sure stuff like Unreal works well on the Mac and iOS. It’s been real unsettling how Unreal has not been part of the Apple Silicon campaign, given their market dominance.
Epic used to be one of Apple’s biggest technology cheerleaders. Without them, I haven’t really seen anyone doing much pushing Apple Silicon for games. And low end Apple Silicon is a lot more palatable for performance than low end Intel hardware.
Apple tried to push a narrative today that Metal was something Apple did for Epic, and that Epic should be thankful for. But it doesn’t mention how much legitimacy Epic has given to Metal. Especially on low volume platforms like the Mac.

First 10 gigabit link up and running between my cable modem and router.

Only problem is all my downstream clients are gigabit. 😆
My switch that everything runs of off is also purely gigabit, so my router immediately hits a gigabit sized pipe.
Old modem used two gigabit downlinks with link aggregation to do >gigabit speeds. Not supported by Unifi Dream Machine Pro. So went with replacing my cable modem with one that could to 2.5 gigabit, and then used a 10 gigabit SFP+ module on the UDM for WAN. Probably more stable.

This call sounds like it's coming from a bad Taco Bell drive through speaker, but it _sounds_ like Apple's lawyers are questioning Tim Sweeny, and he's struggling a bit.
They asked if Sweeny specifically had a problem with Apple taking a 30% cut, and he said no, only that he wants to be able to ship his own store. Seems like not a helpful answer to Epic.
Now this lawyer (who I'm still assuming is Apple's lawyer) is asking if any of this was brought up with Apple *before* Epic signed their contract, and there are long pauses and evasive answers from Sweeny. Also lots of "I don't remembers."

Continuing down the Ultrafine rabbit hole... I'm having trouble getting this check out of LG Premium care. They keep sending me to wrong numbers and full voicemail boxes. Stuck on "verifying my address" phone tag now.
On Friday I got to a number that would hang up on me if I didn't say hello first when I picked up. When I figured that trick out, I told them I needed to verify my address. Verified my address. Asked if a check was coming, they would only say any checks generally take 10 days.
So we'll see what that means. Nothing was said about _my_ specific check or that now a check would be sent out for _me._

Meanwhile I keep thinking I find some fix for the issue so I won't need to get a pay out, but after a few days it always comes back...

Been playing Subnautica in bits and pieces over the last year and finally finished. That game is a gradual ramp of stress as you descend first into the ocean and then into the fiery core of the planet. And then suddenly at the end it’s very calm. Makes for weird emotions.
By the end I was scared to take my giant sub any deeper with the risk it would get destroyed, so I undocked my giant mech suit and made my way through the molten hellcape full of monsters the size of buildings on foot and _boy was that an experience._
When you get that deep you also have anxiety that if your vehicle gets destroyed, you’re going to have no way back to your base. You would be stranded and eventually starve to death or get burnt by the heat. Every moment filled with breathtaking landscapes and inescapable dread.
