/ Congresswoman Marjorie Greene visited Dalton State College, the only 4-year public institution of higher in her district yesterday. It also happens to be my employer. Here are some facts about the visit.
/ She was invited by administration. She did not approach the college. This was done without knowledge or consent of faculty, staff or students. This was done days after she tweeted that publicly funded education is a form of indoctrination.
/ Dalton State is 43% non-white. Greene floated the idea of an Anglo-Saxon caucus, and her stance on immigration is clear. Dalton State is one of two Hispanic Serving Institutions in Georgia. Greene routinely uses coded language such as America First.
/ Dalton State, like every other school in the University System of Georgia has a mask policy on campus. Faculty, students and staff must wear masks indoors on campus. Greene was not made to adhere to this policy.
/ This was nothing more than a photo op for Greene, but faculty and students are not happy and are voicing their displeasure. She does not represent the values of Dalton State College, nor the people of Georgia’s 14th Congressional District.
