Okay I'm going to vent about something I've seen some trans people do. Thread.

There are cis people who are our "allies" that are shitty allies. Who talk over us and claim that they know more about our experience being trans than we do.
Then there are cis people who are actual allies. Who march with us, who call out bigots, and who use their voice to elevate our own.

Just because a cis person is talking about dysphoria and how much dysphoria sucks from their experience seeing their loved ones and friends...
...go through it, does NOT mean they are claiming to speak for all trans people. The thread I just saw was a cis person basically saying that "dysphoria really sucks so please support your trans friends". And another trans woman told her to STFU and not talk about dysphoria.
There is a lot of anti-trans legislation going through this country right now, and we don't have many people in our corner. We need cis people who are actually GOOD allies supporting us in order to kill these bills.
Shouting down someone who is actually trying to be a good ally only ends up hurting all trans people in the long run. Yes, absolutely call out cis people who are being shit allies. 100 percent. But don't shit on people who are coming from an honest place of trying to help us.
And for the love of God, please stop using "cis" as a dirty word. There is nothing wrong with being cisgender, and when you use it as a slur it reinforces the idea for bigots to use against us.
And to any cis people who might read this, please just remember that when you are supporting us, the main rule is that "the experience of trans people on trans issues is more important than the experience of cis people on trans issues". If you remember that you are good.
