Chairman & Ward 16 Councilmember quickly comments,

"This is probably one of the best pieces that we hear every year."
Director Keane states,

"I wouldn't do it justice. Council is well aware of the Y.O.U program & the important partnership with DPU for the past 16 years putting our Cleveland youth public service in their neighborhoods. Commissioner Margevicius & Stephanie Bird deserve their bow
Commissioner Margevicius,

"Stephanie Bird is with me & has been with the program 16 years since its inception & has quite a passion for it. This program was scaled back a bit last year due to social distancing, but we still had a program. We painted a bunch of fire hydrants."
Assistant Stephanie Bird reflects,

"I've had the pleasure of coordinating this program for the 16th year. I really enjoy being with our kids. We started in 2006 with kids painting fire hydrants."
Mrs. Bird continues,

"Unfortunately, last year due to the pandemic and a little bit this year we are sticking with outdoor activities. ... We had about 3 projects the kids worked in. I encourage the West Side councilmembers to invite your children."
Mrs. Bird continues,

"We painted fire hydrants in the Collinwood area. There were a number of gardens, Humphrey, Gilmore, & Worthington. Then we had Neighborhood Clean Up. Go to youtube to review TV20's reporting on Y.O.U."
Chairman and Ward 16 Councilmember Kazy asks,

"How many youth participate throughout the summer?

Mrs. Bird responds, "We had about 60 children for 4 weeks [due to the pandemic]."
Ward 3's McCormack, "Have we looked at expanding this program or increasing its reach?"

Mrs. Bird, "As far as different projects, normally you'll be surprised at our projects. We've had classes at CSU, internships, engineers working with the youth. In a normal year, yes."
