The for-some-reason unnamed, one-sided source of this story coming out of Los Angeles... Image
I don't know what happened based on the interestingly-edited videos that conveniently all begin en media res, but I did some digging when I started seeing these reports this morning to try to parse how this story was placed in local news and now RawStory.
2017 | "The Israeli-American Coalition for Action... is the lobbying arm of the Israeli-American Coalition, which is backed by wealthy anti-Palestinian donors Adam Milstein and Las Vegas casino magnate Sheldon Adelson." electronicintifada.net/blogs/charlott…
"Moments ago" Image
Something clearly happened, but there is a decided narrative emerging based on highly-selective footage - and that *fully-formed* narrative of what a street fight signifies is being very deliberately pushed by people who are *far from objective* observers.

Anyway. Concerning.
maybe you can argue how Palestinians respond to insults during a murderous siege/ongoing genocide (I guess? I wouldn't, myself), but you can't erase that the *insult* here was the precipitating incident (and prolly the genocide, too?) from which whatever else followed... Image
Anyway, this is all in the LAPD's hands already, somehow the true and final arbiter of "hate crimes." 😒
told y'all to watch this one because of who was promoting it before any media got it. some people seem to have conclusions already... nytimes.com/2021/05/20/us/…
NYT: "Michael Yadegaran, an Iranian-American Jew in the city who said he knew several of the people who were attacked on Tuesday."

Yadegaran is *also* co-founder of "30 Years After," a pro-Israel advocacy group in LA. Seems relevant? 30yearsafter.org ImageImage
I would think if your source for commentary on a hate crime accusation against Palestinians and their supporters is *also* the co-founder of a pro-Israel advocacy group, it might be worthwhile to mention when you quote them.
“We have to recognize this for what it is: It’s anti-Jewish and anti-Semitic,” Mayor Eric Garcetti said in an interview. “You have to be specific and say what it is.”
I watched the videos. I haven't seen one (and they're all edited, afaik) that buttresses this unidentified witness claim that anyone said, "who here is Jewish" as a reason to attack - and upon which it would seem to me the suggestion of a hate crime actually rests. I dunno.
Unless there's other evidence somewhere that I haven't seen (I'm open to that possibility), this is wildly irresponsible. And highly prejudicial in a legal sense.
There's evidence ITT that suggests this caravan was itself responding to crude hand gestures and other insults and *that's* what provoked them to fight, so suggesting pro-Palestine caravans are innately "organized," anti-semitic marauders seems inaccurate but purposeful.
Especially, based as it is, on the clear PR spin of dedicated, pro-Israel advocates.
From 2015 | "What made it all particularly effective was that large sections of the mainstream media reported the dramatic claims without question." middleeasteye.net/big-story/fren…

from the river to the sea, you fucking cowards
For USians, this is akin to making a solidarity statement with George Floyd protesters saying "we have nothing to lose but our chains," then retracting just that phrase because a bunch of actual cops hector you about the quote being made famous by Assata Shakur.

Pure cowardice.
If you don't support the inverse of the apartheid regime, I don't know if you can actually say you do "stand in solidarity" with Palestinians? Not my call to make, but it seems obviously antithetical to liberation to me.

CN: police violence, car attack, vehicle attack, mass casualty event, pigs

Different angle on the lethal use of force in Tacoma last night that shows sirens were not engaged at all.
The pig sounded the flat horn once or twice before attempting to murder everyone in his path over fear of a window, but that is not a "siren" in popular understanding - as the police PIO lied about here:
Anyway, BREAKING! #Copslie.
