Closed skill training (do exactly this, in this order, this way, and at this point in the conversation) is more amenable to relatively straightforward RCT type evaluation, whereas open skills training 10/

where the aim is for trainees to inculcate reflective capacity, principles, understandings, knowledge to be applied flexibly, to fit individual circumstances as done by some CA based interventions (including @RealTalk) are not amenable to straightforward before/after or RCT 11/
