Can anyone explain if it turns out it actually was a lab leak what that changes on a practical level, other than WHO offering up impotent warnings to get it together?
Honestly don’t get Republicans who act as though that conclusion would absolve the Trump administration of anything.
And why don’t we ever hear anything anymore about this? Seems like pretty key backstory. vox.com/science-and-he…
There are countless stories from 2018 that predict almost exactly what ultimately happened and yet it seems like the explicit warnings are generally forgotten. It’s as if in 1999 every aviation writer warned about flying planes into buildings.
Republicans trying to rewrite what we all saw with our own eyes on January 6th is really of a piece with how successfully they managed to memory hole all the warnings and missteps of the entire Covid year.
Also, lab leaks were definitely warned about, not that the Trump administration was the "heed warnings" sort.

As a Democrat, seeing a party that wishes you dead flourish by flouting all rules and norms, it’s a little tough to take when your party clings to those rules and norms. “We don’t want to be like them,” only can hold the line so long.
I think the only thing that prevents the next justice department from going off the rails is consequences to the last one for it. But this DOJ seems to believe setting a good example will do it.
Covid year should have been a painfully vivid lesson that when politics is treated like an entertaining game on one side and an ossified institution on the other, the rich get richer and the poor die. And yet.

Past police Covid deaths/Future police Covid deaths ImageImage
Just thinking about how this isn't the last of these completely unnecessary deaths.

It just boggles the mind given this that anyone would have passed when they were among the first to be offered the shot.

Our worst politicians feeding this with talk of 2nd amendment solutions seems like a 🚨 situation. Image
Of course they mean whiteful order.
Of course there's an obvious problem with how you police this movement.

Sounds like one of those speeches designed to get praise from the mainstream pundits that doesn’t actually frame anything clearly enough to upset the guilty too much.
“Although Ryan doesn't mention Trump by name in his criticism…” But you can be damned sure he calls Biden out as a wild eyed leftist intent on destroying America.
Writing fan fic for a Republican Party that doesn’t actually exist anymore as a way to get coverage for calling Joe Biden a socialist is a neat trick.

If we're not there yet, we will be soon, where the majority of Covid deaths each day are people who made a conscious decision to, "Take my chances because this guy on Fox said it has a 99% survival rate."
I mean, I know there's a subset of people who can't get the vaccination for good reasons, but when half the Republicans say they're not getting it, I suspect these deaths will not all be unavoidable tragedies.
I read two different stories today of people who refused to get the vaccine for non fact based reasons and are now dead.

Standing up for the Constitution and liberty, unless we think we can get someone fired.
Of course Ben Shapiro.
The giddiness in their feed at going after Wilder, followed by the joy at getting her fired is really something to see.
