A detail I missed: William Walker became House Sergeant at Arms in April.

rules.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/…
Three witnesses named Mike Flynn's brother--who just got his promotion--as resisting responding with the Guard.
At 1:01 Sund asked for help from Secret Service (which, earlier parts of this report suggest, didn't share any intel about unusual threats). And yet ... they're not included among the LEAs that responded.
The paragraph on the Norfolk report doesn't explain that the threats were found on The Donald, which seems like an important detail to note to understand why the FBI didn't find all the other threats and planning there.
Note, at least three of the Jan 6 arrestees--leaving aside the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers--had been reported to the FBI before the attack.

Tho just the Arab one was being investigated, AFAIK.
It'd be nice if the report provided more detail on this "guiding policy."
Thinking there were more than twice as many people at IICD than there actually were seems like a tell.
It had been reported that what riot gear USCP had was defective or unavailable. But here's a key detail: They were premising wearing riot gear on conflict BETWEEN protestors (that is, based on claimed Antifa threat) not threat from the Proud Boys directly.
Ryan McCarthy, perhaps the key player at DOD in the delayed Guard response, chose to send someone else for the public hearing on DOD response. His own testimony was behind closed doors, where he claimed the response to Trump's coup plans was "hyperbole."
Richard Donoghue did ... nothing to convene a plan to keep the Capitol safe.
Acting Secretary of Defense: Effectively, there was no Lead Federal Agency, bc DOJ did nothing.

Army Sec: the delay in QRF was in part so we could "link up with an organization and contact" which never happened.

Rather than read a warmed over Don McGahn transcript, may I present to you William Chrestman bragging about attacking the Capitol?

documentcloud.org/documents/2080…
DOJ was being generous and didn't point out that a leadership role is one of the factors that Beryl Howell said supported detention.
So is assaulting a cop. Chrestman seems to brag about doing so here, but was not [yet] charged for it.

Also, this is a confession to the obstruction charge.

Tea Leaves on the Garland-Monaco DOJ and the Stay in Andrew McCabe's Lawsuit

emptywheel.net/2021/06/09/tea…
I noted earlier that McCabe and DOJ were in discussions for a settlement on his lawsuit. According to a just-filed update, they're still in discussions.

documentcloud.org/documents/2080…
As I noted in this post, amid discussions about the degree to which the Garland/Monaco DOJ is dealing with Trump's leftover garbage, what happens with McCabe's lawsuit may be quite interesting.

Robert Gieswein, whose friends call him Bobby, had never flown before he was flown through OK by the Bureau of Prisons.

storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco… Image
Gieswein himself called his group Woodland Wild Dogs a "militia," but his other buddies in it say it was about camping and Star Wars.

Only ... they also say he wore his armor on these camping trips, I guess thinking it helped him. Image
Between three explanations from friends, all three say Gieswein invited them to go to DC with him.

The govt's bid for detention for Jason Dolan, one of the four men added to the Oath Keeper conspiracy, says they suspect he and Kenneth Harrelson conducted surveillance of the Capitol the day before.

They also make a big deal out of the fact that both were filming the breach.
Oh. A marksmanship instructor. I can see why you'd want to detain this fella.

This is one of the most valuable reports on the Jan 6 investigation--a realistic assessment of what kind of prison time defendants might be looking at.
I quibble with @shanlonwu's comparison of the Inauguration protestors (one that has been made repeatedly). There, there was no basely evidence of criminality. Here, the evidence of trespassing is clearcut, there are just other legal questions (like interpretation of 1512).
@shanlonwu And remember: NO ONE should want "MAGA Tourists" to get more than a misdemeanor. A huge number of people really did walk in off the street without any prior planning, take pictures, and leave.

Listening to @JocelynBenson at a #RightsCon2021 panel on disinfo and elections. She describes the effect of "the eye of Sauron," meaning Trump, on trying to run an election.
@JocelynBenson She describes "immediately [feeling] safer' after Facebook banned Trump.
@JocelynBenson Bensen describes how much transparency was built into MI's multiple audits of the vote count. But still people refuse to believe, and keep claiming MI Gov hasn't done the audit.
