Former NYPD cop Eric Adams spouts what he knows to be bullshit when he says he won't be like Rudy Giuliani or Bill de Blasio on policing but instead will do "community policing" like David Dinkins.

De Blasio also claimed to do "community policing."…
Also, as Maya Wiley's campaign mentions, former NYPD cop Eric Adams told the NY Daily News in 1999 that David Dinkins was "too soft on crime."

Now he claims to want to copy Dinkins on policing.

"Community policing" is (& always has been) a copaganda term that means nothing at best & increased copaganda & counterinsurgency in communities at worst.

Even Human Rights Watch's report on NYPD's response to #FTP4 says "community policing" is bullshit.
The infamous 94 Crime Bill even promised to give cops more money for "community policing."

It's just a phrase politicians & cops spew to make the same, old racist policing sound new, improved, & nicer.
Trump's fascist AG Bill Barr also loved so-called "community policing."
When NYPD cops got caught giving favors to a man in exchange for bribes, the briber's lawyer said "It's called community policing. That's what's been encouraged for decades."
Here's a great piece by @Josmar_Trujillo written in 2015(!) titled "There Are Lies, Damn Lies and Then There’s ‘Community Policing’"

A Curfew and Clashes With Police in Washington Square Park…
"But this weekend, a different, more chaotic scene emerged. Columns of police officers streamed through Washington Square Park and the surrounding streets clad in riot gear, pushing and arresting people as the park was cleared on Saturday night."
"The officers were enforcing a new 10 p.m. weekend curfew at the park, which closes at 12 a.m. on most days, in order to clamp down on large gatherings, trash and noise, among other issues, according to the Parks Department."

"French President Emmanuel Macron was slapped Tuesday in the face by a man during a visit to a small town in southeast France."…
"The French president can be seen greeting the public waiting for him behind traffic barriers in the small town of Tain-l’Hermitage after he visited a high school that is training students to work in hotels and restaurants."
"French news broadcaster BFM TV said two people have been detained by police in the assault.

Macron has not commented yet on the incident and continued his visit."

Along with Washington Square Park, NYPD also closed off Tompkins Square Park & Union Square in Manhattan, Crotona Park in the Bronx, & Coffey Park in Brooklyn at 10pm on Saturday. NYPD made the decision to do so without even telling Mayor Bill de Blasio.…
NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio defended the NYPD as always.

He also tried to insist that cops in riot gear beating, chasing, & arresting parkgoers recently is not the same as cops in riot gear beating, chasing, & arresting protesters last year. Image
"Crime in the Sixth Precinct, which includes Washington Square Park and the tony West Village and Greenwich Village neighborhoods, has spiked in the past month."

A retired cop (who was also a former delegate for the fascist NYPD cop union) was accidentally killed by his retired CO friend while they were both fighting a guy who allegedly had been harassing an 86-year-old man.…
"The retired officer, identified by sources as Thomas Marrinan, 57, was hanging out with his friend, a 53-year-old retired correction officer, outside Korner Pizza on Church Ave. at E. Third St. in Kensington."
"At about 7:20 p.m., the two saw an 86-year-old man being hassled by a younger man, police said."

“Heidi Heidi Heidi Ho! These racist cops have got to go! If you don’t #FireArtem now, we’re gonna burn it all down!” On Saturday, #FireArtem protesters marched in lower Manhattan, did a mass fare evasion, stopped at NYPD’s 10th precinct, & ended at Washington Square Park.
NYPD was following the #FireArtem march from the start on Saturday. Deputy Inspector Elias Nikas was among the cops following the protesters.
“I don’t wanna say another motherfuckin name!” After some quick maneuvering, #FireArtem protesters ran into a subway station & did a mass fare evasion while chanting the names of Black & Brown people killed by police.

Last nite in NYC’s Washington Square Park, parkgoers defied NYPD’s 10pm curfew for the park. Cops didn’t show up. Lots of dancing & chilling mostly with some fireworks & even some dirt bike/ATV wheelies. Things then died down naturally. Here’s the scene at ~2:50am before I left.
Here’s some radical artwork I saw in Washington Square Park last nite along with a memorial parkgoers put up to remember victims of racist police violence. ImageImageImageImage
It was pretty tame last nite in Washington Square Park. Mostly stuff you’d see at any party with young people. Most exciting thing was a few guys on dirt bikes & ATVs came a little before 1am, did some wheelies & donuts, gave some parkgoers rides, & then left after a few minutes.
