German ruling parties (@cducsubt, @spdbt) have agreed on the "Law on the Adaptation of the Protection of the Constitution", a law which allows all 19 German intelligence services to access it's citizens devices at will.
This especially is “directed against persons against whom no suspicion has yet been established", meaning you do not even have to do something unlawful or suspicious for the government to track all your digital activities.
Furthermore, internet service providers are forced to help the government in hacking their customer's devices, e.g. your devices.
Experts agree on this new law being unconstitutional.
Another issue, besides the obvious ones are even more vulnerabilities being bought by the government instead of being disclosed professionally to the respective product's/services' owners.
Another interesting aspect is that the last time the government used these viruses/trojans, they effectively left the "victim's" computer controllable by anybody, as nothing was encrypted or authenticated.
Also you know it's bad when even Google and Facebook are against something: ccc.de/system/uploads… (German)
I wonder if this applies to @mailbox_org, @TutanotaTeam and @Posteo_de as well. Any comments on that yet?
Also, the @chaosupdates wrote a nice overview last week about the whole situation, back when this mistake wasn't decided yet: ccc.de/en/updates/202… (English), ccc.de/de/updates/202… (German)
