CHANI FILM ENDING THEORY
what zendaya’s behind the scenes footage might tell us
I posted the other day that I thought this scene must be of the Sietch, and I decided to delve more into what that means. Because it’s actually really important.
I think Zendaya’s hair suggests a lot more about the end of the film then we realize. After all, most of her behind the scenes footage, stills and trailer footage, has Chani with her hair tied back.
The only shot with her hair down is one of Paul’s visions, indicated by the rich gold lighting. Now, perhaps this is what they were filming in the picture from earlier, but I don’t think so since this is clearly in the open desert.
Where as this picture has a distinctly different background. Large stone, very cave like. And even some stuff in the back that looks like it could be pottery. So it is certainly a different location.
Plus the background matches up pretty well with a lot of the Dune RPG art set in the Sietches. Since Adventures in the Imperium took it’s visual design cues from the film, the similarities in background feel worth noting.
The only thing close to this description where Chani would have her hair down, is when they are in the Sietch. Which is after a number of important events. So if she is at the Sietch, what are they filming? Well the easy answer is the Water of Life and Spice Orgy.
Which is of course the scene right before the time jump, the natural end point for the first film that many people have suggested makes the most sense. So I am fairly certain they at least filmed some Sietch stuff.
But whether or not these Sietch scenes end up in the final cut is hard to say as of now. The only way we might be able to determine this, is if we get another trailer with new footage. It would be very cool, but I trust Denis either way.

THE UNIQUE EXPERIENCE OF BEING A WOMAN IN THE DUNE FANDOM
an extremely important thread
this thread has been a long time coming, but after this particularly ignorant tweet, I felt this was a good time to post it
To begin with, I want to address this misconception that women are incapable of like sci-fi and fantasy, incapable of enjoying anything of substance or complexity. Because fuck off.
