This entire thread is an example of exactly what @JesseKellyDC talks about when he says conservatives believe in holding their ankles for communists.

Some conservatives never agreed with proof of vaccinations for schools. It’s that way because of government.
The businesses that were going to require vaccinations is also a result of government. To pretend otherwise is foolish. This is state government fighting back against federal government influence and control. If you don’t understand that you’re not paying attention.
Part of government’s responsibility, as @McAdooGordon points out, is to keep the peace. That is to keep us from intruding into spheres where we have no business being which makes it so we can’t live together.
These same “conservatives” don’t mind when businesses are forced to serve people they don’t want to based on race or sexual orientation. Or for that matter, shutting down businesses for “public health and safety.” So when it suits them they’re all about rules.
But when it comes to telling businesses they can’t ask for a person’s medical records, that’s just too far. Now we just have no restrictions.

No thanks. As @JesseKellyDC you don’t get freedom by practicing it. And you don’t get peace by being a pacifist.

I think we should ask @McAdooGordon and @shipwreckedcrew to opine if they have time and are willing.

This filing is interesting. I'll offer my opinion going both directions on this one.
First let me lay it out for people who don't know. Rebecca Jones was an employee for the State of Florida's Department of Health. She managed the COVID dashboard early in its development. She didn't like how it was being run so she engaged in various forms of insubordination.
She's responsible for a great deal of misinformation against DeSantis and Florida because she claims there was a conspiracy to hide deaths and she refused to go along. That was a lie and @charlescwcooke exposed it in a great column. nationalreview.com/2021/05/rebeka…

There is this foolish belief that has infected GOP and conservative circles too long. Its this notion that we should not wield government power to push for and support our values. Free markets, free speech, and small government have become clubs to beat over our heads.
It’s as if we are peace loving homeowners being lectured by the burglar as he steals our stuff about our hypocrisy because we lock our doors, have a security system, and own a firearm. Then we have our David French neighbor telling us the joy of being robbed as a blessing.
You have your other GOP neighbors telling you that you can’t put up gates around your community or fence of your property because that goes against your principles. Meanwhile the burglar just keeps waltzing into your home and taking your stuff item by item.

For those of my followers paying attention to DeSantis and Florida. Former employee Rebekah Jones, who is a narcissistic liar, was granted whistleblower status but the state. It just means she was an employee and the type of allegation falls into the kind that meets statutory req
It doesn’t mean her claims are true. And, in fact, there’s tons of evidence that they’re not true.

Additionally, Rebekah illegally accessed the Florida emergency system to broadcast a silly covid fear message. Florida thought they were hacked.

So they launched an investigation. That investigation led to Jones who foolishly failed to disguise her IP address.

So after Rebekah was fired she illegally accessed the system to send a message and downloaded personal information of people in the system.

I cannot imagine a decent defense attorney like @McAdooGordon representing this lady. She practically confesses her crime on social media. One does not need to be brilliant to be a “hacker.” Accessing work system after termination is indeed “hacking” under the law.
The law does have an anti “hacking” statute, at least not federally. Federal law and most states mimic the law is unauthorized access. It includes what you think of hacking but also covers ex employees who pull stunts like this.
She’s hardly the first employee to access work systems after they’ve left to steal or manipulate the systems.
