Are there any two styles of the same food with a bigger gap in quality between Connecticut-style lobster roll (amazing) and Maine-style lobster roll (bad)
Connecticut: pure lobster meat served drenched in drawn butter

Maine: mayonnaise seafood gloop with various adjuncts
Ironically the best Connecticut-style lobster roll I ever had was in Maine, at Red's in Wiscasset
Lotta Mainers seem to be in denial about what a "Maine-style lobster roll" is 99% of the time. Need some sort of AOC law or something.
guys you know it's not very nice to say "that food you said you enjoyed? it sucks, actually"
"Sure you can wait at that overrated place or you can be like me and go straight to the source" [dives to bottom of Penobscot Bay and rips the head off a live lobster]

I think what drives people nuts about Blackrock investing in residential real estate is it gives away the whole game
Oh for sure, but the largest investor isn't Blackrock. It's American homeowners. And they already have exactly the same incentive.
In fact you can buy Blackrock shares and get a piece of their action. You can't buy one millionth of your smallholding landlord's asset portfolio.

About a thousand articles on Osaka and not many of them knowledgeable enough about tennis politics to note that this is part of a more general trend of the tour's star players asserting they should have more power over how the tour is run.
Right now Djokovic just won a tournament run by his brother and he's essentially daring the tour to call him out for the obvious conflict of interest. He also started a breakaway players' association because of displeasure with the ATP. It's bigger than Osaka.
Tennis is different from the big US sports where the teams and the ownership structures serve as mediating forces. In tennis the big tournaments are a cartel but each star player is also basically his or her own little business. This creates some quirky labor politics.

If you're a 270towin junky the way Colorado and New Mexico stand out is particularly jarring
I'll never get over the fact that a year ago Trump's whole shtick was "we don't need lockdowns because the vaccine is coming and it's going to be amazing" and half of that statement turned out to be true! But then the GOP decided to switch and Culture War the vaccine instead!

Our pandemic response in a nutshell is that restaurants that have been violating public health guidelines for a year are now like "I dunno about these new guidelines"
"After careful consideration, and for the safety of our customers, we've decided we will continue to operate under Public Health Theater (June 2020 ed.)"
Put another way, after a year of having indoor dining the CDC announcement yesterday was essentially the first time that the idea of indoor dining got CDC approval

Not gonna lie regardless of the science I do not have good associations with the news "CDC says no need to wear masks"
Some acknowledgement from the agency that it botched this a year ago, and some explanation of how we can be assured they have changed such that they are not botching things now, would be welcome
