"maybe already reported" from Jesse using an email sent to me by a source and distributed by me keeps making me snark"
but again this is the important thing. We're seeing a lot of folks who caused moral panics decry the predictable and predicted outcomes of the panics they created.

Jesse: Panic about trans people!
GOP: ok! Sounds good! Bigots vote!
Jesse: no one could have predicted there is no bigger supporter of trans rights than me.
Friedersdorf: Panic about anti-racism on campus!
GOP: Ok! Sounds good!
Feidersdorf: Well obviously those laws are bad but there's no chilling effect
Me: Here's a documented chilling effect
Friedersdorf: Can't hear you, writing about Oberlin sandwiches!
Chait: Campus PC is a huge issue
GOP: It is! Let's force mandatory flag worship on campus!
Chait: Now liberals, see what you made the GOP do? The laws are bad but this is your fault.
and so on

It would be better if the Biden Administration were committed to holding accountable people who abused the public trust, stole from the public purse, and violated the laws of our country under the last administration.
It would be better if the Biden Administration were committed to using the power of the presidency to proactively help people in need to the greatest extent possible, such as forgiving federal student loan debt.
It would be better if the Department of Justice were concerned with Justice rather than trying to revert to apolitical norms of an era to which this country is not on a trajectory to return regardless of DoJ decisions, and which were in fact never apolitical.

creating a data set that includes the US, Israel, Hamas, and the Taliban is not antisemitic.
criticizing that dataset as containing entities that are not comparable is not islamophobic
anyway, the call from her colleagues was to clarify and she clarified so I'm excited for the next 71 hour news cycle

I tend to stay out of twitter about Ilhan because it's not a useful discursive space and I have the opportunity to do more careful writing as needed.
but this is a good response from my rep.

I'm a "considering buying a portable winch to attach to a tree to haul the boat up" kind of middle aged Minnesotan now.
but the actually designed tree winch systems are for hunters to pull carcasses out of ravines or whatever and are very expensive and I am not that kind of minnesotan
or the ones used for logging also not that kind

Interesting note mid piece about the mosquito vector for this virus carried by slavers around the works. Wondering about the source base for that (seems plausible!)

I like Zitron's work because he's engaging the ugly realities of the power dynamics directly.
there's also a class/race/disability aspect here that needs to be part of the power analysis, for example @tressiemcphd's -
