Har Har Mahadev 🙏
Omkareshwar Jyotirling temple is a self appeared (Swayambhu) pillar of light with no beginning and no end. This Temple is one of the most ancient religious sites in India, with links going back to the Ramayana era. Located on the banks of sacred Narmada river.
The name ‘Omkareshwar’ is derived from the sign of OM which is formed when you take an aerial view of the hill which is surrounded by Narmada on all sides and hence, it is called Omkareshwar.
The island which it situated in (Mandhata) also has Om shape structure.
Interesting Fact about the Island is that ,In Satyuga, the island took the shape of a giant sparkling gem, in Treta Yuga it was a mountain of gold, in Dwaparyuga it was of copper and in Kaliyuga it has taken the shape of a rock.
This place has been inhabitated for 5500 years from 10-13th CE Omkareshwar was under the rule of Parmars followed by Chauhan Rajputs. Despite the fact that Mughals rules almost all over the country, Omkareshwar was still under the administration of Chauhans Later went to British.
This place is also believed to be the ‘NabhiSthal’ or the navel of the river and a perfect place to begin and end the Narmada Parikrama. This temple is made of Made of 60 solid stone pillar, the mandapa of the temple is beautifully made carved with Yakshi figures.
A rounded, elliptical shaped, the Shivalinga is in the form of a rock on which constantly water is offered and abhisheka is also done 3 times a day with milk, water and Curd .There is also Maa Parvati silver statue behind the shivlinga.
The Morning Puja is done by the Trust members, day Puja by the Scindia's and Evening by Holkars by the Night puja is very special here A bed is laid out for Shiva and Paravati to sleep and a game named
"Chaupad" is played before both Shiva/parvati go to sleep.
One of the seven holy rivers of India, Omkareshwar cannot be visited without paying your respects to the Narmada ,Who is also considered to be daughter of Lord Shiva one of the purest river that flows in through is a must visit .
There is also a Temple named
The Mamleshwar temple, also known as Amareshwar temple is one half of the Jyotirlinga at Omkareshwar. It is said that one’s Omkareshwar pilgrimage is not complete without visiting this temple.
And one important Thing is that The original Omkareshwar temple is a rebuilt one which was destroyed during Tughlaq Invasion. The present temple was built by Ahilyabai Holkar. She also presented the silver idol current present there which you see today.
The history on Lord shiva appeared as many stories in
One such is the story related to Mandhata and his son’s penance. King Mandhata of Ikshvaku clan ( an ancestor of Lord Ram) worshipped Lord Shiva here until the Lord manifested himself as a Jyotirlinga.
Many scholars also narrate about how Mandhata’s sons, Ambarish & Muchukunda had practiced severe penance to please Lord Shiva as a result of which the mountain is named Mandhata.
There is also another story in where in a fight between Devas and Dhanavas (Asurs) Dhanavas won which had caused huge set back for Devatas so they decides to pray for Lord Shiva in this place and Shiva appeared in this place , As in there are umpteen number of stories associated.
So Overall Omkareshwar is a divine place , beyond our imagination its ineffable to be honest ,

We all chant Ganapati Bappa Morya all the time to sing the praises of Lord Ganesh. But Do you know what the word Morya signify? The word Morya refers to a famous devotee of Lord Ganesh in the fourteenth century called Morya Gosavi, 1/n
Originally from village called Shaligram in Karnataka where his devotion was looked upon as madness!! He travelled and settled in Chinchvad, Pune and invoked the Lord with severe penance. He attained siddhi at Shree Chintamani and his son built the temple to commemorate 2/n
Overwhelmed by Moryaji 's bhakti was blessed by Lord Ganesha to fullfill any of his wish. Morya asked to be remembered forever on this earth whenever anyone remembers his Lord, as his 'Param Bhakt'. Thus this depicts the inseparable relationship between God and his devotee.3/n

Ganga Aarti is the traditional Evening prayer performed daily on the banks of river Ganga. This prayer is done for praising to the River Goddess-Ganga.

Ganga aarti is a spectacular ceremony that takes place everyday in the 3 holy cities of Haridwar, Rishikesh and Varanasi 🙏.
The Aarti is performed everyday at the Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi, Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh and Hari-ki-Pauri Ghat in Haridwar at the bank of the holy river Ganga.
The aarti is carried out facing the river. The lamps are lit and circled around by the pandits in a clockwise manner, accompanied by songs in praise of Mother Ganga. The idea is that the lamps acquire the power of the deity.
