Here’s another hot take just because I can:

I don’t think children should be given homework in elementary or middle school. And maybe not even high school. Kids need to have fun when they get home from school. It sets us up to have bad work boundaries.
Are there schools or places that don’t give homework (in the US preferably)? I mean I’m willing to move us out of the US but my parents probably won’t follow us. Should I just protest homework?
OR give homework but don’t grade it. Give student the OPPORTUNITY to practice in a structured way at home, but don’t require it.
Also, we have many teachers in our family so I totally understand that lots of teachers don’t WANT to give homework but don’t have a choice. I get that too.
I also completely reject the notion that high school is solely meant to prepare young people for college.

Oofda. If that’s the only point of high school then no thank you.
