A thread to closer reading of Bambam's riBBon M/V

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A Bambam has repeatedly mentioned the concept of Pandora's box and the wordplay with "reborn" while talking about riBBon and has also hinted at how he has left details and hints all throughout the M/V which we can point out.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A To start with we have the beginning scene where Bambam wakes up in a dark place with flowers. Only after lurking in the mostly dark place for sometime he is seen with a gift box which he opens and we see him inside the box too.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A Bambam inside the box is clearly Hope, which was left in Pandora's box until it became the last one to fly out of it. So Bambam becomes his own hope when he was lost or confined due to various reasons and he couldn't show himself completely in the ways he wanted.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A But now that he is going through his rebirth things start brightening up and we see Bambam waking up under the bright open sky, outside the box. This indicates his newly achieved freedom with which he can now do whatever he wishes for.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A Then we get to see Bambam standing among a lot of people and we either see Bambam's pictures held in front of their faces or we don't get to see their front profiles at all. But everyone is dressed similarly to Bambam.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A They probably signify his different sides, the ones which he couldn't express previously but now he can.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A Immediately after that we see Bambam with a magnifying glass which might symbolise the constant radar or scrutiny of lenses celebrities need to live under. They don't always get to relax or be themselves. Every little thing they do is analysed under lenses.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A Bambam probably wishes things weren't that hard always and hence the attempt of moving away from behind the glass but he never gets to do that completely. He is definitely being reborn but he isn't leaving the celebrity life.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A His career choice is still the same and he knows these are inevitable and he has to walk forward with these lenses focused on him.

Next we have the ribbons showering over Bambam who signifies hope.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A This can be a reference to the riBBon video in his previously released highlight medley. In highlight medley his new self was just a newborn baby and was having a birthday party.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A But in the M/V his new self is grown up and is probably having another birthday party before he walks out in the world and start afresh.

New Bambam does walk into the real world and try to showcase himself to everyone.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A But we see other people judging him from afar and ignoring him. While Bambam tries to show his talents they are busy talking among themselves and don't pay him any attention.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A This is very similar to what we face in real life when we start something new or something we like and the people around us think that we are being weird. When we start being ourselves, start being different, at first we feel alone and lost.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A Probably Bambam's new self which had been confined for so long feels the same way as it's his first time being unapologetically and freely himself. But this changes later on, which I will point out later in the thread.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A Now we see the chess scene with two Bambams. The one on the left with the dark suit is most probably the old Bambam, the one who had debuted with a dark-themed concept and couldn't really do everything he wanted to.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A The one on the right is the new Bambam who is dressed in light colours probably because he wants to try bright concepts now and is debuting with something as vibrant and lively as riBBon. Another noticeable point is the chess pieces in this scene.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A The chess pieces in front of Bambam in dark suit aren't regular black and white pieces but are of different colours. This probably signifies his different sides which hadn't reached some level of perfection previously or he was probably stopped from showing them to the world.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A But they always existed and the different colours show that he has always been unique in his own ways. Meanwhile the new Bambam in his light colours have a single chess piece (again Bambam) and this piece is multicoloured.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A This can show how he has embraced all his sides proudly now and have embodied them in himself. He is ready to reveal himself fully to the world now. Also Bambam mentioned that he is the knight, which is a very unique piece considering the way it can move on the board.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A Thus Bambam knows he is very unique and now no matter what the world thinks he is ready to express himself.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A Also it's noticeable that the chess piece Bambam is covered in ribbons when he first appears-this might show that the birthday party is over for him and now he has to face the world. But interestingly, old Bambam is still there and will never leave his new self alone.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A Instead he will guide his new self on the board. Also, he doesn't need to kill or give up on his old self completely in order to embrace his new true self.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A The use of chess is also very interesting as it shows that his new self isn't doing things just for the sake of it. Instead he is studying his environment and taking steps only after thinking a lot and he knows exactly what he is doing.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A On the chessboard we now see multicoloured chess piece Bambam standing alone on one end while a lot of people are standing on the opposite side. It's also noticeable how the others are dressed in black and white only.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A They symbolise the rest of the world which always wants to fit in a known box and don't like any detour. They all wish to become the same and thus, the world becomes bland or monochrome. But Bambam refuses to fit in and fights the world in order to not lose his colours.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A Right after this he moves into a dreamy scene where he is seen flying around (reference to the light feeling of being like a feather). He is even seen in an utopic place which is very beautifully decorated and almost feels like paradise.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A This is also where he unties his own ribbon finally (the choreo where backup dancers form a ribbon shape and he opens it) which can symbolise his revealing his true self to the world without any doubt or hindrance. He is now really confident in himself.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A But soon he experiences a freefall and lands in a small room surrounded with a lots of boxes. This might signify that the world he had dreamt of isn't very easy to achieve and there will be times when he has to take a step back or face hindrances.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A The room being small might signify the confinements of the world to which we might have to adjust sometimes. It feels hard at first but we learn to adapt gradually.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A Also it's noticeable how he has so many boxes around him and when he shakes one of them we see Hope Bambam stumbling around. Thus we know that Bambam hasn't lost his hope or himself.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A He knows the new journey won't be easy but he is trying and he knows he is going to succeed one day and he has hope to hold on to until then.

Finally we see Bambam among a lot of people again.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A They were the same people who had judged him when he first expressed his talents. But now we see that they have joined him. And the mood is completely festive as if everyone's celebrating a rebirth this time and not only Bambam.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A He shows everyone that they can embrace their other sides and celebrate them. The world doesn't necessarily have to be monochrome. We can also see this as Bambam bringing hope and happiness to everyone (which he hopes to do with riBBon).+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A Also we again see another Bambam here who is standing in the crowd. Thus it shows that his old self has never abandoned his new self. They are actually interdependent and without one of the Bambams we wouldn't have his other self.+

@BAMBAMxABYSS @BamBam1A His new self has brought him freedom while his old self has experience which helps his new self to move forward in a much smoother way.
