The Ionian Philosophers (Part 3) Image
Scientific thinking dates back about 2,600 years to the Greek philosophers of Ionia

Ionia got the name from Ionians ,who were living in Greece at the end of the Late Bronze Age, when a Greek civilization, called the Mycenaean civilization, declined around 1,200 BCE Image
Ionian cities became the intellectual leaders of Greece in the 6th century BCE, the city of Miletus became the focus of an intellectual revolution

Ionian intellectuals were not heavily influenced by religion nor limited by ancient books claiming truth or divine revelation Image
Early Ionian Philosophers

1. Thales

Thales seems to be the first known Greek philosopher, scientist and mathematician

He is believed to have been the teacher of Anaximander. He was the first natural philosopher in the Milesian School Image
He is recognised as one of the Seven Sages of Greece

Thales is said to have predicted the eclipse of the sun mentioned by Herodotus1 as occurring at the close of the war between the Lydians and the Medes Image
This practical turn of mind led him to believe that events in the world were not due to supernatural intervention

But had natural causes that reason and observation would reveal Image
The idea that everything in the universe can be ultimately reduced to a single substance is the theory of monism

And Thales and his followers were the first to propose it within Western philosophy Image
His true importance lies in the fact that he was the first known thinker to seek naturalistic

Rational answers to fundamental questions, rather than to ascribe objects and events to the whims of capricious gods Image

Path To Become The Unstoppable Image
We must aim to be resilient towards the things beyond our control and be determined enough to walk on the path of virtue

Mental toughness is necessary to be a true warrior in the battle of life Image
We need to be strong enough to control destructive desires, to choose virtuous activities over vulgarity and to anchor ourselves in the present moment

The greatest strength of all is within our control, which is the power over our own faculty Image

Branches Of Philosophy (Part 2)
1. Metaphysics

The name ‘Metaphysics’ is derived from the Greek words ‘Meta’, which means beyond or after, and ‘Physika’, which means physics

It is that branch of philosophy which goes beyond the realms of science
Aristotle, one of the most well-known philosophers, acknowledged Thales as the first known metaphysician.

Some metaphysical questions are:

What is the meaning of life?
What is our place in the universe?
What is consciousness?
Does the world really exist?

Introduction To Philosophy (Part 1)
First, let us begin our examination and exploration by trying to define Philosophy

Philosophy, in my opinion, is the way of thinking. Critically engaging in ideas, and trying to deconstruct and break down questions and thoughts by using tools of rational enquiry
My favourite definition is the one given by Krishnamurti:

"Philosophy means love of truth, not according to some theories or speculative concepts/imagination, but to lead in daily life, a truthful life...

Identifying your fear and anxiety shows what you are truly afraid of, Running away just exaggerates the problem.

Only Confronting your fear will provides you with an option to solve it
