Unpopular opinion incoming, but I think it gets to the heart of what’s happening here. I was always fascinated by the culture of self-deprecation that seems to be commonplace in the US. I was taught growing up to speak WORDS OF LIFE over myself, NOT words of hurt. 1/7
In the US, I’ve found that SOME people refer to themselves in the MOST demeaning ways. &Trust me,I get it, but only to a certain extent. You are “taking back your power, controlling the narrative, & all these things.” But it still somehow never quite sat right with my spirit. 2/7
I’d literally CRINGE when my friends in college would call themselves “fat,ugly,lazy..” ALL the things. Even if they’d pass it off in a joking way. It would STILL make me cringe. The point here is, the WORDS that we SPEAK over OURSELVES matter. It might not SEEM that way.. 3/7
in that precise moment. But you are LITERALLY releasing that stuff into the universe, labeling yourself as that thing among your friend group & a whole slew of things that are happening in the spiritual realm. I always wondered what the long term impact of this could be …4/7
on an individual, & by extension, on a society. And what I believe that this brother here is saying is that OVER time, it CHANGES the way that you SEE yourself. It CHANGES the way you are PERCEIVED. It can lead to a slew of #mentalhealth issues. 5/7
Beloved people, let’s RENEW our minds to the idea that WORDS DO MATTER. We have to be VERY careful of the things we say ABOUT ourselves, EVEN TO ourselves. What we speak INTO the atmosphere MATTERS!! IT REALLY DOES. IT REALLY DOES. Let’s ALWAYS be cognizant of this TRUTH. ..6/7
For the crowd that says “sticks and stone may break my bones, but words will never break me”, this phrase is simply a MISTRUTH. WORDS MATTER. A LOT. THE END. 7/7
