Happy July, beloved family! π»
I woke up today, on this beautiful Thursday morning with these words HEAVY in my spirit. Beloved, whatever it is that you are going through right now, be comforted in knowing that our GOD is DEEPLY & INTIMATELY acquainted with your pain & suffering
Blood and tears
How can it be?
There's a God who weeps
There's a God who bleeds
Oh, praise the One
Who had reached for me
Hallelujah
To the Son of suffering
While I agree with the spirit of the message/call to action put forth here by Profs. @Lola_UMich & Hana El-Samad, as an underrepresented minority, I'd ask that we redirect our focus, as least in the near term to the powers that oversee these STEM departments at these US STEM..
...educational institutions. I'd like to preface this by saying that while I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree that we need top-down change, which I hope @EricLander46 spearheads to the best of his abilities, at the individual university level, leadership practices MUST also change.
A Pattern for Prayer || Effective Prayer || James 5:15 || Morning Devotional || July 3, 2021
Happy Saturday, my beloved family! In todayβs devotional, we are encouraged to pray in faith for anyone who is sick among us. The word of God says that this specific prayer will bring healing to the sick & they will rise to new life. How amazing is that?? π€―
We are also assured that if the sick person had committed any sins, that they would indeed be forgiven. As you enter your weekend, keep praying & keep trusting in Godβs relentless love for us! ππΎβ€οΈ
I feel you on this π―. The reality is that there actually IS a lot that others can do to help alleviate mental health issues. For one, the societal stigma which surrounds mental health IS NOT the same for cancer. At all. What Iβve found is that a lot of the hopelessness thatβ¦
precedes suicide is heavily related to the ways in which society perceives the individual suffering from MH issues. The individual feels like a lost cause, because often times, society TELLS them that they are. Theyβre told they canβt work again because theyβre unstable.
How do they then pay their mortgages, student loans? How do they LIVE????!! CANβT have kids, because theyβll have kids with neurological disorders which will then be burden to society & the healthcare system. CANβT adopt kids, because in America, people with MH issues just CANβT!
IDK why people are trying to racialize ShaβCarriβs suspension! Guys, it LITERALLY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HER BEING BLACK!! She BROKE a rule & there are CONSEQUENCES for that. Thatβs all this is!! It has NOTHING to do with race!!! Sheeeeeeesh!!! π¬
Now, we can have a discussion around WHY the rule is the rule & whether that should be changed. But as of today, July 2, 2021, itβs STILL a rule!!
If you know me, Iβm ALL about giving people GRACE. And I think she deserves grace. However, we canβt be in favor of/against certain rules ONLY when it is expedient! Rules are rules and thatβs really it. We can reserve the discussion as to whether it makes sense for a later date!
Unpopular opinion incoming, but I think it gets to the heart of whatβs happening here. I was always fascinated by the culture of self-deprecation that seems to be commonplace in the US. I was taught growing up to speak WORDS OF LIFE over myself, NOT words of hurt. 1/7
In the US, Iβve found that SOME people refer to themselves in the MOST demeaning ways. &Trust me,I get it, but only to a certain extent. You are βtaking back your power, controlling the narrative, & all these things.β But it still somehow never quite sat right with my spirit. 2/7
Iβd literally CRINGE when my friends in college would call themselves βfat,ugly,lazy..β ALL the things. Even if theyβd pass it off in a joking way. It would STILL make me cringe. The point here is, the WORDS that we SPEAK over OURSELVES matter. It might not SEEM that way.. 3/7
