✨Story of Brahma and ma Saraswati✨
Are they Husband-wife? Father-daughter or something else?
Long thread but you'll understand it in one go. Please continue till end.
The claim that people make is: - In the Vedas & Puranas it is written that " Brahma ji married his own daughter Saraswati . For this they give references from Rigveda Samhita ( 10.61.5-7 ) Aitareya Brahmana ( 3.9.13-33 ) , SrimadBhagvatam(7.11) , Matsya purana and various others
Here is the story from SrimadBhagvatam
इतिहासपुराणाभ्यां वेदं समुपबृंहयेत् ।। ( Mahabharta 1-1-293 ) one has to decode and expand the meaning of Vedas through the Help of Puranas . We are going to look at this story in the light of Vedas , puranas and traditional Acharyas .
#भविष्यपुराण has very clear statement on this:-
सत्त्वभूता च भगिनी रजोभूता च गेहिनी । तमोभूता च सा कन्या तस्यै देव्यै नमोनमः ।। ( 2.4. 18. 24 ) The Prakriti consisting of " Tama Guna " is called as " Daughter " and it is stated " Brahma married his daughter ( this prakriti )
What we need to understand is " She is called as Daughter ( दुहिता , सुता ) auxillarly in scriptures just because “ she emerged out of him " or she was created because of him " for creation . It is nowhere written that " from such wife of Brahma ji saraswati was born "
Son of brahma ji , Marichi etc were created for the earth .. For them " यो यस्य उत्पादकः स तस्य पिता ' The reproducer is the father because on earth generally creation happens because of the reproduction but the brahma - saraswati duo was without such creation .
Even after this Brahma g left his body just to insure that no human in future would do the paap by misunderstanding the story . Now we'll look at the scriptural explanations given by traditional acharyas:-
Buddhishts Jains abused Vedas by mocking such stories. Kumaril Bhatt in his commentary of Purva Mimansa Tantravartika 1.3.7 replied:-
Being the protector of the world , the sun is Prajapti ( Term used for brahma ) , it rises behind Usha ( Dawn ) at the time of sunrise+++
that Usha originates from the sun itself , so as a daughter she has been described . In the ( Usha ) he Surya ) puts his red rays as seed , which is treated as a union of female and male .
See this original text from Tantravartika
✨यो ह्येव सविता स प्रजापतिरिति { Shatpath Brahmana 12.3.5.1 }
प्रजापतिर्वै सविता ।। { Tandya BrahmanaChapter 16 }
Which means that Sun is Brahma { Prajapati } .
See what's written in the story of Shrimad Bhagvatam after brahma ji left his body :
See Bhagvatam 3.12.33(img)
We find usha ( dawn ) is his daughter because she is born because of the sun . " The sun went behind Usha and when confronted by his sons he left his body and this body is called Fog . This matches with the Kumarila
*Rays can be termed as sons here*
✨Another explanation
मनो वै ब्रह्मा { Gopath Brahmana 1.2.10 , 2.5.4 } वाग् वै सरस्वती ( Taittariya S 6.1.2)
The मन is Brahma , Voice ( speech ) is called Saraswati.
Speech originates because of the मन That is why these two are described here as father daughter
That's why in The Vedas , similar thing is written :
{ 1 } There is a place of mind (मन) before speech , so whatever is thought from the मन is said to be spoken again .
{2} That Prajapati controlled/ desired the वाक .
*the विवेक senses can be taken as Sons
To keep it very simple : As we all know Shiva - Parvati , Krishna Radha all are shown as Left - right part at the time of creation . Similarly Brahma ji divided himself into two parts one male and female
Conclusion : @Maa Saraswati is the Wife of Brahma g . She is called “ Daughter " auxillarly ( i ) because Brahma created her and ( ii ) acc to Bhavishya Purana she has Tamas ansh of Prakriti .
In Rgveda Shakala samhita the total number of letters is 4,32,000. Rishis have calculated every word of Veda so the knowledge can be passed without a single letter getting lost.
Similar is the case with the tradition of interpretation. You can notice it in DarshanaShastras too. In Vedanta the debate about what is the meaning of अथ in the sutra अथातो ब्रह्मजिज्ञासा has taken many books to explain.
Interpretation of vedas require much effort.
Durgacharya has written {meaning in image
"Women didn't used to cover their breasts before British Rule" All this is Victorian Morality
Traditions, customs and dresses may vary within communities and region. But you can't say that "women didn't used to cover the upper part of body". There are different types of clothes mentioned to serve the purpose.
All of us agree that Kalidasa is Pre Mughal, Pre-British and maybe pre to any type pf cultural invasion.
For a second imagine all these stories to be true(in the way he has represented).
anecdotes cannot be against Vedas. By saying that the "meaning of Vedas should be taken from Itihasa and Puranas" we mean that history and Puranas are only for Vedas. Not against it.
If the method is derived from the Anecdote going against Veda or Smriti. So Due to the stability of the fame of Ravana, till date who abducted someone's wife such method can be derived :-
"कीर्तिकामः परदारानपहरेत् (the person who desires fame has to abduct the wife)"
But it's not derived because it's against Veda and Smritis. Therefore, one should imagine that the anecdotes holds no authority to determine what is dharma and adharma by themselves...
😂 Real Ramayan, Lol who takes these people seriously
In the very first page see how ill logic "Rama was a human not an avatara" this is the propaganda they are promoting and Hindus will be fine with this.
Also in this "pure ramayana "Hanumanji used monoplane ✈️ to reach lanka
