The Utsav Murti of Shree Mahalaxmi Ambabai Temple, Kolhapur, Maharashtra

Probably the only idol in the world that was made using three metals - Silver, Copper and Brass

Here the face of the Goddess is made of silver and the rest of her body is made of copper and the cloth is
made of brass. The melting points of these three metals are different, but the idol doesn't have any welding joints, signifying the uniqueness and creativity of the artisans centuries ago. The feature of the lion below the goddess is the same, that his whole body is copper and
the ornaments are brass. Even today, when science is so advanced, attempts to make such idols without assembly fail.

This idol of Mahalaxmi is sculpted in the South Indian style.

The idol is 12-inch tall and 4-inch wide and its artistic style resembles the Chalukya era,
dating back to the 12th century.

Unlike the main idol of Mahalaxmi, which is in standing posture, this festive idol depicts the Goddess holding her mace (gada) in a hand is sitting on her lion

The ONLY known golden ornament that has survived from Ancient India.

This 1st century B.C. beautiful pair of golden earrings (Prakaravapra Kundala) belonged to a Satavahana Queen from Jaggayyapeta in Andhra Pradesh, decorated with a winged lion and an elephant.
In ancient India, the country of Telugus was very famous for its gold. But this pair of earrings proves the superb quality of early gold-smithing in Andhra region.

It also gives us the first tangible evidence and throws light
on the kind of Jewelry worn by ancient kings and queens of India.

Ironically, this pair of earrings is now at display in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, thousands of miles away from its home in Andhra Pradesh. It was there in India until 20th century.

Do you know! INDIA is the birthplace of many modern Board Games

And Snakes n Ladders (an ancient board game) is one of them

The 13th century Poet Saint Gyandev created the game of Snakes & Ladders. It was originally called 'Mokshapatam’
( where the highest no. "100" was represented as Moksha, a person can attain salvation through doing good deeds )

or Vaikunthapaali (coz People used to play it on Vaikuntha Ekadashi day as they will not sleep on that day )

or Paramapadam Sopanam ( where Paramapada means
highest place, means the feet of Bhgwan Vishnu and Sopnam means Steps )

This is not just a game but an allegory to life. In the game of life, the snakes are the bad habits (Vices ) and the ladders are the good habits (Virtues ).

Know Why should we do Half Pradakshina ( Ardh Parikrama ) of Shivling 🔱🙏

It means, a devotee should perform one pradakshina for Maa Durga, seven for Bhagwan Surya,
Three for Shree Ganesh Ji, Four for Bhagwan Vishnu But for Bhagwan Shiv one should perform only half pradakshina.

According to Shastras and Shivpuran, only half-parikrama must be carried out by the devotees around the Shiva Linga. This practice is justified by explaining that,
Shiva is both 'Aadi' & 'Anant'. Aadi meaning first or beginning and Anant means everlasting. Thus, the divine and endless energy (Shakti) flowing from him is represented in the form of Nirmili which is the narrow outlet from where the milk and water flows.
