It is an ancient custom in Hinduism to offer Janma Nakshatra Puja at temples based on Moon Nakshatra,seeking the grace and benevolence of the deity.
Janma Nakshatra is according to Hindu method of Vedic Astrology.

Nakshatra temples are said to be places with active energy that can be perceived by the devotees. Performing Pujas/rituals and offering prayers at these power spots every month and yearly on the days of ‘Birth-Star’ can give immense uplift.

As per Vedas Nakshatra Puja is very important in our lives. In Nakshatra Puja, God ruling the Nakshatra is worshipped. To neutralize the malefic effects of the planets in their main periods Maha Dasa or Antar Dasa & to attain beneficial results from the same planets.
