.@MartyMakary pulls no punches and minces no words in this truth-bomb laden @WSJ OpEd about the abject data & information failures of the CDC, especially with regard to COVID-19 & children. Take note @AmerAcadPeds wsj.com/articles/cdc-c…
I'm with @MartyMakary

The CDC has 21,000 employees, yet they can't report the basic stats on the (very low) number of 335 pediatric deaths from/with COVID.

Why is that?
"Hospitals routinely test patients being admitted for other complaints even if there’s no reason to suspect they have C19. An asymp child who tests pos after being injured in a bicycle accident would be counted as a 'Covid hospitalization.'"

Adults too.
"CDC’s poor performance isn’t limited to kids or vax safety. Early in the pandemic the CDC left us all flying blind by not reporting the med cond of those who died of C19. Collecting this info early wld've made it easier to protect NH res & patients w/renal failure or diabetes."
"It took until March 2021 for the CDC to report that 78% of Covid hospitalizations were among overweight or obese patients," says @MartyMakary

(Me: Plus, govt worked actively AGAINST health by telling us to stay home, work from screens, watch Netflix, and order food!)
More truth: "Most striking, the CDC has never systematically collected and reported the No. 1 leading indicator of the pandemic—daily new hospitalizations for C19 sickness. Instead, the CDC offers the lagging indicator of hospitalization for anyone who tests positive for C19."
"The CDC data on natural-immunity rates is similarly disappointing. [They report] this measure in fragments on their website, but it’s outdated & some states are listed as having 'no data available.'"

cc: @kerpen @AWokeZombie
"The low priority given to this indicator [i.e., natural immunity] is consistent with how public-health officials have played down and ignored natural immunity in their drive to get everyone vaccinated."
ICYMI, Dr Makary wrote about natural immunity for WSJ in June. "My clinical advice to healthy patients with natural immunity is that one shot is sufficient, and maybe not even necessary, although it could increase the long-term durability of immunity." wsj.com/articles/the-p…
And here he was in February, with the same message.

It's July, & we still can't get most elected and PH officials to even whisper the words "natural immunity" - including when talking about the lowest risk group: children

1/ IL State BOE has sent a ridiculous letter to @redhillcusd10, saying the district is now "on probation" for allegedly exhibiting "deficiencies that present a health hazard" to kids & teachers, by making masks optional

ZERO chance this would stand up in court. 🧵 ImageImage
2/ If @redhillcusd10 is creating a "health hazard" by not forcing kids to cover their faces with cloth (which doesn't stop viruses)...

...then so are 7 states that now don't permit local jurisdictions to mandate masks in schools - & 26 states that leave it to local decision Image
3/ Forced masking in IL schools is only hanging on by the thread of the Gov's 17x, illegally-reissued 30-day EO, which expires June 28th - & will likely be renewed tomorrow

Legislature MIA
Judiciary 😴

“Nearly six in 10 U.S. adults (57%) believe employees should be required to wear a mask when working at an on-site work location, even after being vaccinated for C19, [per] results from the latest American Staffing Association Workforce Monitor survey.” curated.tncontentexchange.com/partners/pr_ne…
“70% of Blacks/African-Americans and 64% of Hispanics/Latinos believe employees should be required to wear a mask when working at an on-site work location, even after being vaccinated for Covid-19, compared with 50% of Whites/Caucasians”

Wow 😞
“While two in three U.S. adults (66%) believe employees have a right to know if their co-workers have been vaccinated against Covid-19, a majority (60%) also say their personal vaccine status is no one's business but their own.”

Anyone know why this was deleted?

Was it the false claim that Delta is “deadlier”? Image
On a related note, why hasn't this tweet been deleted - or flagged as misleading?

Is this America's most fearless educator?

Peter Dong tells @IMSA_ seniors,

"What we did as an institution last April was a betrayal of our students, an abdication of our mission statement, & a mockery of the name 'science' in the name of our school."

Folks, do NOT miss this 20-min speech

Truth bombs from start to finish

“I want you to remember what @IMSA_ did to you this year, & I want you to remember what happens when you allow fear to dominate your thinking, & to crowd out the love that brought you here in the 1st place.”
IMSA (Illinois Math & Science Academy) is the state's premier, residential, public high school.

Inexplicably, the President & Board of Trustees chose to keep kids at home ALL year. Zoom only👎

Dr Dong rightly calls it out:

"Remote learning is TERRIBLE! It's SO bad!"
