i just want to quickly address some of the comments i've seen made about today's event at #glasgowgreen. not because i want to give these comments any value, but because i think it's worth pointing out the desperation people will go to to discredit a gathering of women.
first of all, for some reason trans activists are comparing the turnout of this event to the trans rights march in london. nevermind the events being completely different - london has a greater population than the entire country of scotland.
and yet, i'm also seeing people complain about the event having too many people for current covid regulations (not true). so it somehow had simultaneously too many and not enough people.
so to reiterate, it was completely fine for trans people in london to have a pride rally in june which, according to people on twitter today, vastly outnumbered the gathering in glasgow. but also, the gathering in glasgow was a superspreader event which too many people attended.
according to some, /too many/ english women travelled to scotland, where they are apparently not welcome. at the same time, the event was /expected/ to represent "the entire uk", despite the fact that glasgow isn't very centrally located in terms of the country as a whole.
so there you have it. the women who showed up were too old, too english, too many in number, too few in number, threatening yet pathetic, conniving yet ignorant... and i still haven't seen a single one of these people mention what actually happened to @millar_marion.
i just want people to see how absolutely insane this is, as a reaction to an at best mildly controversial gathering of women (and some men). this is misogyny! this is how women's rights campaigners have been treated since the start. and i can't believe we're still here in 2021.

right now i'm really preoccupied with the current intersectional talking point that there's no "universal experience of womanhood/femaleness", ie that women do not exist as a coherent class, because misogyny differs slightly between different countries, cultures and religions.
i feel like few things are more explicitly anti-feminist than denying that misogyny - the hatred of women - even exists and that instead, there are actually countless different, culturally-specific misogynies which are completely isolated from one another.
it also makes me want to smack my head against a wall because libfems are apparently searching for a very specific "universal experience of womanhood" and failing to find one... because they reject anything that references being biologically female.
