The Grauniad recently broke a story of NSO Pegasys Project, database leak if surveillance spyware for Govts & elite. Pres Ramaphosa's cell no. was found on the list, but it's unclear what, if anything was compromised. Turns out Rwanda added him to the database in 2019. But why?👇
Turns out Rwanda/SA relations soured in 2013/4 over the murder of Patrick Karegeya (Kagame's former Head of Intelligence), while he was in exile in SA. Karegeya was strangled to death with a curtain cord while he was staying at the Michelangelo Towers in Jhb.
A bit on Paul Kagame first. He rose to power after the plane crash of the President Juvenal Habyarinama which led to the Rwandan genocide. It's believed Hutus shot down the plane, but Karegeya is also on record saying it was Kagame whodunit.
Karegeya was Head of Intelligence under Kigame from 94-04, until a falling out with Kagame. Jailed for 18 months in '06, fled to SA in' 07, where he formed an opposition party, believed to be part of the reason he was assassinated. Other part, he was working with SA Intelligence.
A few months later, in March 2014 another Rwandan survived one of many hit attempts in SA. Gen. Kayumba Nyamwasa who was Kagame's former military chief of staff is currently under the protection of the South African Govt.
In the direct aftermath, SA expelled 3 Rwandan diplomats as evidence gathered that the hits were organised by Rwanda's sitting Govt of Paul Kagame. Not to be outdone, Rwanda then expelled 6 SA diplomats in their tit for tat dance that left relations between the countries soured.
What happened wrt to justice from that point onwards? Nothing, cause justice comes to SA to die! In 2019, 5 years later, there was an inquest which sought extradition of 2 suspects who freely left the country in 2014 already. Here's where things get interesting with Ramaphosa.
After 5 years of doing fokol, Magistrate Mashiane Mathopa chaired the inquest & asked why no arrests were made & ordered the extradition of the 2 known Rwandan suspects who were linked to the Rwandan Govt. Rwandan officials gloated about the hit in public. 👇
What's a murder or 2 for ANC under this current administration when there's an opportunity to be friends with the murderous regime instead? Make sure you read the pic of when NDPP chooses not to prosecute & how CR enters the picture.
Magistrate Mathopa was shocked at the lack of action by SA authorities to arrest any or all of the 4 suspects since their identity & whereabouts were known. Guessing it's the same story with Bushiri now too & every other high profile criminal using SA as their playground.
To date the extradition request has been ignored in the quest for normal relations with Rwanda. First attempt to normalise ties was a failure. The task was left to the Foreign Ministers of both countries, Lindiwe Sisulu & Louise Mushikiwabo. Sisulu is credited for the failure.
Remember Gen Nyamwasa who survived multiple hit attempts.. Sisulu said publicly that she'd met with him & he was prepared to negotiate with Kagame.✊For this she was ridiculed & likened to a prostitute by Rwandan officials. As befitting ANC weakness, the normalising of ties cont.
Remember Ramaphosa was added to Pegasus in 2019, what else was happening around that time? A SA Pres was being inaugurated with a Rwandan President in attendance.
Enter Naledi Pandor & Vincent Biruta. Both have hosted each other & relations are better than ever. Believe they've even reached an agreement for Mozambique & Rwanda have already deployed troops. So have the assinations at least stopped on SA soil since we're friends again?
ANC will embarass us every time cause as recently as Feb this year, another murder of a Rwandan opposition member, Seif Bamporiki, took place in Langa, Cape Town. SAPS is treating it as a pesky robbery this time round. Why risk the friendly relations?
As for the Rwandan troop deployment in Mozambique, our media are cheerleaders of everything Ramaphosa, so the whitewash of Rwanda's recent history is going smoothly. EU is firmly in the cheerleading narrative as Macron's recent visit attests to.
But, if you dig past our propagandists, what emerges is a pic that SADC isn't happy that non-member states are interfering militarily in its region, & troops from SADC bloc have deployed as of 15 July. But whats commitment to SADC & BRICS worth next to the renewal of EU & Rwanda?
So, to circle back & end off - has Cyril Ramaphosa been compromised through the Pegasus surveillance revealed in the Guardian, by the Rwandan Govt of Paul Kagame?

Mike Stainbank recently approached the PP office in his almost 2 decade long struggle for justice against the Krok brothers & Gold Reef Casino. This is an update, you can recap here. 👇
Justice still eludes him. Here's a summary in Bra Mike's own words.
This is the allegation restated. Basically that the (8 word) Freedom Park Museum was never incorporated & that documents & public databases like CIPC have been tampered with, to make like they existed in 2001.

Koko/Montana went to Zondo, dismantled all allegations, got newspapers to retract some propaganda, yet we still believe the media. Now international news can report Indians are being killed, because local media doesn't tell the truth. SANTACO reported as heroes, now look at CT.😡
The system is yt, doesn't represent us, it's stupid not to dismantle it when majority want it. Im watching things go from bad to worse, the weather is so bad in CT, people were stuck in town with no way home last night, 100s shot at. Its like KZN & CT are in a race to the bottom.
We get the Govt we deserve, we get the media we deserve, maybe even the public infrastructure we deserve. Change doesnt exist until it's made clear that the majoritye want it. I see no focused pressure from the majority, only from the minorities. Blacks are divided & conquered.

Zuma & Thales vs NPA at High Court somewhere - starts with something about a trial within a trial & how Zuma's Section 35 rights are being violated by affidavits being shared & trial in his absentia.
2/ They seem to be talking at cross purposes. Judge says they all came to court a few weeks ago & it was decided that affidavits would be exchanged. Mpofu says circumstances have changed as everything's being done in Zuma's absence & there's unrest now.
3/ Postponement drama. One side is saying Zuma's using delaying tactics, but Mpofu points out, it was the judge who speculated on postponement.

V Ngalwana hosted a webinar on the Zuma judgment. Guests included Adv Sikhakhane, Gogo Matshiqi, Dr van Eck, Prof Madonsela & Kim Heller. Based on the fact that it was open to anyone who wanted to listen, I'm sharing it. Will delete thread if it's a problem @vngalwana.
2/ Prof Madonsela believes the majority judgment is rational, reasonable & fair. The sound was perfect while it was recording but its weird on playback. Don't know why.
3/ Aubrey Matshiqi finds himself more aligned with the minority judgment.

PP Mkhwebane was interviewed earlier on Powerfm by Lukhona Mngoni. Here PP registered her frustration & was asked about changing of the word 'deliberately' to 'inadvertently & /or deliberately' wrt CR misleading Parliament.
PP didn't suck the phrase 'inadvertently &/or deliberately misleading' out of thin air, but used used a 2007 ConCourt judgment in the Nkandla case. So CC sucked it out of thin air to deal with Zuma, but are now acting brand new by saying inadvertently &/or deliberately don't fit.
No judgment would be complete without questioning the PP's competence. Now she's incompetent for quoting the ConCourt.

Constitutional Court ruling - PP Mkhwebane v Pres Ramaphosa. I haven't heard the ruling yet but it's obvious so this thread is if you want to know the reasons. Here Jafta reads out the background leading to the PP investigation.
2/ Ramaphosa made an 'error' & immediately wrote a letter to the Speaker to correct.
3/ Details of the complaints to the PP by Mmusi Maimane & EFF. Does Mmusi even stand with the PP now?
