Just a note that the Forest Management Agreement area described in the text & shown on the map in this story includes both Castle Provincial Park & Castle Wildland Park. Both were excluded from logging under the previous NDP government.— cochranenow.com/articles/first…

The caption says only that the Castle Provincial Park is excluded from the agreement. The governing plan is the seriously out of date 2010 Forest Management Plan, which includes plans to log both park areas.

2 threatened species of federally-listed & protected trout are not even mentioned in that plan. These lands, their forests & the streams the drain to are part of their designated critical habitat. It is illegal to destroy any part of it. Yet there is 0 assessment of the effects—
of logging on their specific critical habitats or on the remnant populations themselves. It appears that Albertans need to gird for yet another battle to protect Alberta's East Slopes from the depredations of extractive resource industries & their provincial government.
