Men taking orders from this fellow, trailed a family member of mine to kill, providentially he wasn’t found till chase was called off.

An older friend also escaped killing.

Another only barely survived, partially paralysed & blinded by a bullet to the eye & brain.
He supervised the savage beating of an uncle in the Aso Rock carpark, seated like a Roman emperor, all the while making unpardonable comments about his ethnicity.

He only ‘graciously’ asked his goons to stop just when it was much.

He admitted to all these before Justice Oputa.
This fellow was actually sentenced to death in 2012, for Kudirat Abiola’s shooting death on the streets of Ikeja.

He was surprisingly to be acquitted 2 years later.

There’s blood on his hands.

No; he’s actually drenched in blood!

Nothing in life can wash it off. Nothing!
For those who may not know, this is not his first attempt at politics.

He was on the ballot in 2019. But we all thought it was a joke, underscored by his woeful 4,622 votes.

But such warped minds as his, have a weird tenacity & we shouldn’t just dismiss a 2nd shot as a joke.
Certain people, like others before them, should just recede into the shadows, live their miserable lives quietly till the creator calls for their souls.

2023? It doesn’t work that way.

This is very personal Hamza; Lúkúlúkú l’á y’ojú e, pèlú àwon HART tó o kó jo. Kò de ní ye é!

Are our Air Force planes safe, given we’ve had the 3rd tragic crash so far this year?

Perhaps it’s a problem. A probe’s been set up to look into it.

A bigger problem they might be overlooking is the work schedule, individual stress levels & the oft overlooked battle fatigue.
No doubt, work levels have increased in recent times in response to security realities.

Military are trained to be hardy and to stand stress, but we all know that this can only carry them so far, before capacity begins to diminish, because “bodi no be wood!”
This is one more reason why alternative means of engagement are needed where new fires are igniting.

Not every issue responds to military intervention or even requires military intervention.

We just have to admit the limits of ‘faya for faya.’ Ask the purveyors of shock & awe.

Nathaniel ‘Nat’ Olufemi Oyelola FNSE, 1929-2021…

…was laid to rest earlier today.

He was one of 5 founding members of what became the Nigerian Society of Engineers in 1958.

Also, one of the “magnificent 7” who founded the Pyrates Confraternity at UCI earlier in October 1952.
They are, Wole Soyinka, Ralph Opara, Pius Oleghe, Ikpehare Aig-Imoukhuede (who left), Nathaniel Oyelola, Olumuyiwa Awe and Sylvanus U. Egbuche.

It was founded in part, to further social justice and against convention among students, while having a little rascally, eccentric fun.
The maritime theme and organisation of the association is inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson's classic literature, ''Treasure Island.''

Its organisational structure is also reflected in the adventures of the characters of the book!

Constitution review a futile exercise- Afe Babalola

The truth is that there is no way NASS can amend the 1999 constitution to cure its inherent defects. First, you cannot cure fraud.
Second, it is impossible, by way of amendment, to take away the military system of government under the 1999 constitution or the power and control of public funds by the President.
Or can we, by way of amendment, change the Judicial powers of the President under the 1999 constitution?

The fact remains that you cannot amend a Coconut tree which has no branches to become an Iroko tree which has branches.

Gov. Samuel Ortom to FG:

It is now clear that there is a hidden agenda which only the Presidency knows.

Otherwise, all the regions of the country have accepted that open grazing of animals is no longer fashionable & should be banned to pave way for ranching,…
On February 9, this year, the Northern Governors’ Forum (NSGF) met & agreed that the current system of herding mainly by open grazing is no longer sustainable, in view of growing urbanisation & (the) population of the country.
The Forum consequently resolved to sensitise herders on the need to adopt ranching as the new method of animal husbandry.

Yet, the government at the centre is insistent that grazing reserves/cattle routes must be created across the country.

#OnThisDay 1998, a group of Nigerian politicians dared the Nigerian maximum ruler, Gen. Sanni Abacha.

The Group of 18 which metamorphosed into The Group of 34 or simply G-34, aka The Institute of Civil Society is on my mind today.
The Abacha junta has no doubt been the most ruthless, most ferocious dictatorship in the history of Nigeria.

He’d programmed himself to transform into a civilian President-for-life, at the end of a wonky transition program, following Babangida’s never ending aborted transition.
Many National Democratic Coalition NADECO members had fled into exile by a conscious decision of the coalition, to be able to continue the opposition abroad even if everyone remaining was killed.

Those who opted to stay, knew they were sheep, literally waiting for the slaughter.

While we continue the 40 day celebration of the Easter Season, let’s spare a thought for Christians in areas where they constitute a minority.

Shall we focus on a number of Christian denominations in Northern Nigeria, that may not be too familiar to many of us in the south?
