Diensteinheit IX Kit example thread

The equipment of each unit was very individual, constantly modified, and were all adapted to the respective training and operational requirements.
Almost nothing was too expensive for the troops, and
plenty of modern equipment was procured from the West via KoKo and IMES but they were also typically very pragmatic in the GDR and used available gear as needed.
Each unit was usually up to 10 men strong, and after reunification most of the SEK units of the Federal Republics new states were originally Diensteinheit IX
A lot of their equipment was Paratrooper equipment, including their uniforms, KM66 combat knives, boots, and in some cases helmets.
Here we have more laid out kit pictures, note the East German Paratrooper boots
At the end of the 70s western police forces began to use ballistic shields while storming buildings. Here is an example of their East German counterparts copy. Pictured below is a reproduction (with actual ballistic properties) that was made based off an officer of the MDi
explanation. he couldn’t guarantee whether they were actually used, as only a few were ever made
Sorry for the low quality pics. I think the quality decreased after I pulled them from the internet.

I unearthed rare footage and photographs of Diensteinheit IX, East Germany’s special and covert counter-terrorism unit. I will be posting them here. The majority of these are from training exercises
Formed after the Munich Massacre as a counter terrorism unit, it was designed to be the eastern counterpart of the West German SEK. However, Diensteinheit IX ended up being used mostly in the cases of deserted Soviet soldiers who obtained a firearm before going AWOL ImageImageImageImage
The unit used East German makarovs, polish PM-63 sub machine guns, and also West German weapons made by HK, obtained through cover organizations, routed through bangladesh on Colombian licenses before ending back up in the DDR. These included MP5s, and other weaponry. ImageImageImageImage
