On hot summer's day some years back I marinaded some chicken for a BBQ, filled the empty chicken boxes with water & put them outside my house with a "thirsty dogs" sign
That night, the old lady downstairs phoned
Wizzy, her pooch, who'd drank some water, was ill
“Did you wash the chicken containers very thoroughly?” the old lady asked
“Of course,” I said
I’d given them a good rinse. That was all
I didn’t get much sleep that night & in the morning I lay in bed listening out for Wizzy’s usual barks from the garden
But Wizzy was silent.
What if I’d not only inadvertently poisoned Wizzy, but ALL the dogs that had stopped off for a drink
If would only be a matter of time before someone worked it out
I could already see the local newspaper headlines
But luckily, Wizzy was fine & I learned an important lesson.
The idea of this “Hot Dog Stop” was for thirsty dogs coming from the park on the hottest day of the year (33°C) to have a drink of water
Pretty straightforward you’d have thought...but one-year-old French Bulldog, Buddy, had ideas of his own!!! @dog_rates
To understand why thirsty Buddy decided not to drink any of the water👆 but instead to munch on some scraps of chalk instead, this thread👇 offers an explanation
According to this scientific chart (via @infobeautiful), French Bulldogs are “inexplicably overrated” @dog_rates
