There’s this. There’s Mandelson-Epstein. There’s Evans and his (wife’s) Campaign Company and other under-reported stuff around the GS. There’s Forde. There’s Phillips. Etc. Etc.

Some of the dodgiest people around being allowed to hide in plain sight because they punch left.
There are big stories here, and a few good reporters working on them, but editors who spent years publishing deranged stuff about Cambridge Analytica and Putin aren’t interested.
Even setting aside the politics of this, imagine what else you might be allowed to get away with in this climate as long as you’re attacking the left.
Very, very bad things.
The political and media spheres being as they are is dangerous. If I had teenage children I’d rather they went to some rough pub in town than a CLP meeting where people can do whatever they want as long as they’re part of the right faction.

Thinking about the intro here and trying to work out whether Euro ’2020’ is going to go down alongside Italia 90 and Euro 96 in the annals of England near misses and I think it is (whereas the 2018 World Cup has not)
The anti-racism of the England players during a big cultural event has performed a similar function to Gazza’s tears, and is probably, hopefully a bigger deal, partly due to them being active where Gascoigne was passive.
Also worth saying that Southgate and the players have made their fixtures into bigger cultural events than they were pre 2018 by being likeable representatives of the country, even though the country is of course an imagined community.

There is somebody on BBC2 at the moment being almost comically dishonest and it's not Dominic Cummings. Laura K acting as if political campaigning is purely about the best person for the job and nothing at all to do with ideology. Ridiculous charade.
You must be honest with the public apparently

Was really nice to do this with Jude. I suppose the tldr is:

The England players were inspiring, so we should be inspired.
International footballers have much more power than the average worker, but they are still workers, and this was a form of worker militancy. So instead of hoping for Marcus Rashford et al to save us, we need to follow their example and fight.
We also need to keep trying to push the players towards more radical positions, particularly in relation to the Qatar World Cup.

Again the reporting here is embarrassing. Why are they having to repair Party finances? Because members are leaving/being kicked out. theguardian.com/politics/2021/…
They paid a fortune to settle a winnable legal case against people who essentially threw more than one election ffs.
What are they paying Mandelson?
