Daniel actually just laid out the Woke’s Motte and Bailey. What they really want to do (Bailey: revolutionize and dismantle); but then they just retreat back to the Motte when called out: “better reading instruction and curriculum change”.
Yes. There are many a teacher who have been so indoctrinated themselves through their COE programs and PD that they truly believe CRE is the best direction for educational change. Unfortunately, too many teachers take what they are told at face value, seldom seeking out Alt views
From the first class, Colleges of Ed Profs start to inundate future teachers with “best practice” and “the research says.” Sometimes using articles or research, but too often there is a blind trust by the student. Because by would a college Professor mislead them?

The Culturally Responsive-Sustaining STEAM Curriculum Scorecard

steinhardt.nyu.edu/sites/default/…
"if STEAM curricula does not provide opportunities for culturally responsive and sustaining education, it cannot be high quality."

".are critical of power, identity, problems and solutions,"
"Part of the work required to use this scorecard will be accepting various explorations of who are mathematicians or scientists, and what “counts” as science, technology, engineering, arts, and math, and why?"

"STEM disciplines are not 'objective'..."

"Culturally responsive teaching is responsive to students’ lived experiences, ..., and other ways of knowing and being in this world. Here I take up race, recognizing that this is just one part of the culturally responsive story."

CRT is CRT

cadrek12.org/resources/blog…
"Using critical whiteness studies, critical race theory, and Black feminist concepts, this article interrogates the effectiveness of White teachers who engage in culturally responsive teaching without first interrogating their whiteness."

"If teachers are culturally responsive and inclusive, your district is already teaching components of critical race theory, says professor Cleveland Hayes."

But wait, .@realchrisrufo and @ConceptualJames have been told for weeks CRT is not in schools.

Critical Race Praxis

“Critical race theory itself is not being taught in K-12 schools…. However, the research and scholarship that inform CRT have greatly shifted how many education experts view our school systems.”

educationpost.org/explained-the-…
“At its roots, CRT draws from the work of notable Black scholars and activists like Sojourner Truth, W.E.B. Dubois and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.”

Uh, not quite
“CRT also allows for the creation of new policies, practices and curricula that help students think critically about the institutions that shape their lives, and to develop their own affirmative racial identities—which is important for all students.”
