One has to just open one's eyes and look at the history of this country since 1947 to see the outstanding work done in the country by the visionary @INCIndia Govts.

Thank you for appreciating my education. Yes Immunisation was a paper for my "Preventive medicine" some decades ago, but thanks to you I looked at the Indian scenario again in detail, and assuredly the political cocoon holds a beautiful butterfly.

The Pulse Polio Immunization Programme was rolled out in India on 2 October 1994, when India accounted for around 60% of the global polio cases. The last polio case in India was reported a decade ago in Howrah on 13 January 2011, and the country has been free of polio.

National Immunization Days (NIDs) for polio eradication in India were conducted on Dec 9, 1995 and Jan 20, 1996. Children up to 3 yr age targeted and 87 million children covered. The target age was increased to 5 years in the next year and about125 million children vacinated.
