Spare me the make believe indignation from Republicans about the Afghanistan evacuation.

1/ Here's the story of the relentless Republican effort (led by President Trump) to undermine and destroy the programs that help bring Afghan refugees to the U.S.
2/ Over the last decade, Republicans have pushed to intentionally create a massive backlog in the Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) program - the one we use to bring Afghan partners to America, by putting onerous conditions on the applications.
3/ In 2016, Obama asked to increase the cap for the SIV program. Senate Republicans objected.

Then, the Trump Admin started slowing down SIV processing. When Biden took over, there were 10,000 unfilled visas, despite 17,000 applications in the pipeline.
4/ This dovetailed with the assault by Trump and Republicans to destroy other refugee programs that bring Afghans to the U.S..

Obama admitted over 2,700 Afghan refugees. Trump admitted 400, bc he had dismantled the refugee system. Biden had to rebuild it.
5/ And today Trump Republicans are making it clear they will oppose bringing more Afghan refugees to the U.S..

Predictably, full scale war has broken out again with Iran.

The Strait of Hormuz is closed. Gas prices are spiking again.

The bottom line? Trump has no moves to make. His spiraling incompetence has boxed America in. It's only going to get worse.

1/ Here's where things stand.
2/ The basic truth is Trump has no path to a deal with Iran.

Iran will not give up their nuclear program now that they have taken America's best military shot and survived.

Trump has turned the White House into a 24/7 corruption operation. This is a national crisis.

Trump thinks the public will stop paying attention.

Who knows if there will be a final agreement. But if there is, two things will be true at the same time:

a) It's essentially surrender to Iran.

b) We should be glad about it, because every day this insane, illegal war continues, we get weaker.

1/ Let me explain.
2/ An end to this disastrous war is a good thing - no matter the humiliating terms. Because every day it continues, our nation gets weaker, costs keep going up, Iran gets stronger, and Trump gets further from accomplishing his goals.

More war would just make things worse.
3/ But make no mistake: these are Iran's terms. They made one single concession - opening the Strait. And it's not even a concession because the Strait was open before the war!

And now that Iran has proven that the U.S. can't stop them from closing it, their power expands.

This Ebola outbreak has been a slow motion disaster - 900 cases and and now threatening the U.S..

We know how to stop outbreaks like this. But Trump chose not to stop it. He destroyed our global health team, deliberately exposing us.

I want this war to end - now. And I want a deal that constrains Iran's nuclear program.

But what we are learning is that any deal Trump gets - and a deal is still very unlikely - is going to be WAY worse than the nuclear deal he cancelled a decade ago.

1/ Here's what we know:
2/ Obama's JCPOA limited Iranian enrichment to 3% and put a low cap on how much enriched uranium Iran could possess. It required Iran to open up facilities to regular inspection to monitor compliance. Iran pledged to never obtain a nuclear weapon. Image
3/ When Trump blew up the agreement, Iran put their nuclear program into overdrive. They made advancements they never made before the JCPOA.

Before the agreement, they had enriched to 20%. Now - 60%.
