2000 followers...wow. what did I do to deserve so many friends, colleagues, clients, and dearest fans??

Y'all tell me sometimes how I inspire you. I called myself Reikan back in highschool because I wanted to be someone who can inspire others.

Thank you for sticking around 💜 Reikan. 2000 followers
I started making content in 2014. I was on and off even back then because of life and struggling with balancing my education, work, and my social life.

In 2018, when I came out as trans, a shit ton of my followers out of 26k came after me and started being hyper critical of me
That hostile environment broke me and I never looked back since. I started diving deeper into Twitter after neglecting it for so long and dove into the Vic Mignogna case where I met so many amazing people with such tenacity and strength despite the absolute hostile environment
Knowing my involvement, my fans on FB started to unfollow me. I doubled down with my involvement and chose to continue to speak my mind about how disrespectful people were acting towards abuse victims for an obvious political agenda, that being the culture wars
Ever since then, I started to connect the dots with how I used to be when I started my fb page being a GamerGater. I absolutely reaped what I sowed and vow to never make that mistake again: that you are who you surround yourself with.

Despite efforts to purge, I failed
The truth about social media is that it's deceptively easy to grow your numbers if you don't care who you're surrounded by. The consequences of this clout is that you are subject to whims of the company you keep. Your individuality becomes stripped and other horrors occur by them
You start to emulate your audience if you spend a lot of time with them. I wasn't the best person even 5 years ago.

My branding was centered around cheap memes, plastic consumerism, and fleeting moments of toxic fraternity
I reaped what I sowed. Karma caught up with me. I still didn't deserve the amount and intensity of transphobic harassment I got and the misogyny my audience gave me whenever I opened my mouth to tell themselves that they didn't have to listen to me anymore
I'm sad that ever had to go down the way it did.

My brand was "good takes on anime" to some. At the time, I was undergoing radical, drastic growth as a person and NEEDED to change as a person for my sake, for the community I wanted, and for the content I wanted to make
The reasons why are stated earlier and I gotta say, sacrificing everything, including what felt like my soul and creativity, was the best decision that I could have ever made.

I'm in a good place now. I'll spill the tea for how I curated my audience and enjoy what I have
I'm not afraid to speak my mind. The risks of exercising my freedom of speech comes with the consequences of not "ruining" my reputation per say, but changing who gives a shit about me--a vibe check as a treat if you will.

I have my values and principles, I have people I value
FDR once said: "Judge me not by who I am, but judge me by who my enemies are" and I think that's a generally great motto to have since actions speak louder than words and having the right kind of enemies shows courage, tenacity, and is a result of your decision making to act
I like surrounding myself with like-minded people just like everyone else does--except I strongly prefer people who walk the walk and aren't afraid to speak their minds.

I will never let go of my friends until they let go of me.

@RinaHoshinari is such a friend whom I love
Rina and I got our starts on FB and we got to know each other through a friend group we still have today.

Neither of us are perfect, but we don't take shit from people who don't have the common courtesy and respect to talk to us about things.
@RinaHoshinari and I look at #ENVtuber issues and genuine drama and we get genuine, vivid flashbacks to stuff we've already dealt with.

So when he sees me go viral sometimes, he rolls his eyes at me and jumps in to slap around people harassing me and spreading misinfo about us
@RinaHoshinari doesnt give a rats ass about politics and is sometimes questioned by my enemies as to why he even bothers. Rina doesn't have a satisfactory answer for them other than "I just wanted to be stupid like Reikan is being rn so fuck you, get over yourself" and I love it
I've never been able to sympathize with people who despise cancel culture for easily searchable reasons, but also because I just don't let my reputation hold me down. My reputation is a byproduct of my will to act. My will is my own; my reputation is mine to craft as I wish
This level of growth would baffle the me of 5+ years ago. That person is indeed dead, but only because I took the time and constant agonizing effort to change so much and be held accountable by people like Rina who calls me out on my shit bc of love. That's what good friends do
So far there are a few ingredients to having a great, non-toxic community I found: ability to let loose with one another, ability to talk freely among one another, ability to change and understand one another, ability to not allow people define you; and by proxy define us all
Now what I see in my discord server, Rei Casa discord.gg/DUbsP4HA (join, please clap)

Is a bunch of remnants of communities, friend groups, clients and colleagues becoming a melting pot and some even befriending one another. It's a beautiful mess. It feels like a family
The motivation to talk to one another comes with one's moments of privilege to have free time, but also an understanding that they can vibe well. People talk on their own behalf and the environment you create encourages or discourages this motivation for engagement.
Understanding as well that not everyone will vibe well with one another comes with the territory. You can't make everyone happy. But having common threads that are meaningful at least in the ways that matter work well in the long term and relieves stress and makes things easier
There are ofc, the regular human conflicts that occur. You cross those bridges when you get there and you talk things out and mediate mediate mediate!!!

I often say that VTubers are in the business of making fandoms. This is true for me, but I also want a community of mutual aid
I seek to create such an environment where people gather together who are like me: someone who doesn't take shit from others and doesn't let others define them or dictate what they do. Their choices, their identities, their time is theirs.

I want folks to WANT to help each other
With the right environment, the right folks, good standards and expectations that you help create, mutual aid will come naturally. When folks are in need, unconditional help will come when need be. Trust will build on its own or break on its own

You do the best with what you got
That about does it with what comes to mind with what I got going on.

My enemies wonder how they an "make Reikan go away for good" and even I thought about this. I genuinely don't know how to get rid of me save for this meme or y'all letting go yourselves Buy my silence permanently. $8000 per month I will stop
If anyone ever has any questions for me with this kind of stuff, please ask away! Pick my bimbo brain hehe

Thank y'all for your support too!!!

If you spend your whole life reacting to things outside of your control and reach, then what time is left for directly impacting people's lives? What time is left to inspire, to persuade, to uplift one another, to love one another unconditionally without prejudice?
A reason why I refuse to allow mainstream politics inside of Rei Casa (my discord server) and refuse to engage in mainstays politics myself in any capacity, is purely because of the realization that my time can be better spent helping those close to me than reacting to spectacle
I think discussions rn about AOC bring such things to mind.

I realize that people can't understand the differences in class structure and "eat the rich" means anything above $100k/mo in income regardless of location or occupation

Y’all probably either are confused of drama of the day in #ENVtuber land. So here’s a summary (not including the dozens of lukewarm takes that form a consensus of enjoying the outreach that clips from various fan channels give to any #Vtuber).

I’ve got unique thoughts on this🧵
From a professional standpoint as someone who manages, consults and cares deeply for VTubers, Cimrai just about covered a lot of what I could’ve and probably would’ve said myself

This professional perspective is missing with a lot of indie talent
I come from a similar background as a content creator doing this for 7 years, but also had my start in a similar aspect as clippers like @UsVtuber. My best friend @RinaHoshinari did too with his FB page geoing hella viral for posting a McD’s anime ad and getting it shared by McDs

#ADayOffTwitch is about Hate Raids. I want you to think about this before you stream. People are allowing exceptions for contract streamers who depend on streaming for income. That's fine.

What I care about with whoever hops on today and crosses the picket line are intentions
#twitchblackout is a protest and boycott about Twitch's incompetence and negligence to marginalized creators who wish to escape from the world just like everyone else. However, as we know by now, we don't get that kind of luxury. Fandom and hobbies are a battleground
Battleground?

Yes, a battleground.

The war? None other than the notorious "Culture War". Hate Raids are a continuation and an attempt to reignite this bullshit yet again.

I ask that everyone take a breather and read what is being said. The main thing is an issue--an oversight I also apologize for.

BPD does not make someone a "bad person" or inherently abusive.

If you were involved or know of this case, please hear me out🧵
It was crucial to point out Seluna's SPECIFIC, UNTREATED SYMPTOMS that she KNEW about and CHOSE do to NOTHING about DESPITE having access and ample time and chances to work on it.

We are talking about a woman who WEAPONIZED her hospital stay. That's SPECIFIC to HER, not all BPD
The wording in the mental health section was advised and written by Bridgey. I oversaw it and edited it.

The current wording will not be changed to avoid suspicion of tampering the document.

This was an oversight. Both Bridgey and I take full responsibility for it and apologize

If you’ve been hate raided, would you mind showing me in your Twitch Dashboard: “EXTERNAL SOURCES” under the stream summary of the stream you got raided in, if I can collect enough data, I might be able to uncover something with light investigation the source(s) of hate raids
Please like, retweet, and even tag or dm someone who has been hate raided. I would like to help in what ways I can
I wanna create a heatmap to determine the worst offenders of hate raids. If it’s not 4chan, then we deduce from there other likely sources like lolcow, Kiwi Farms, certain FB groups and discord servers that have this kind of reputation, and more. We need data

I see #Anitwt is having a meltdown today over MHA production. I'll keep it simple:

Animators are not at fault for how a story is adapted. Period.

The anime industry is barely holding together. If all you care about is what the latest episode is like, then you live in a bubble
I'm not sure what it's going to take. People who should know better aren't understanding just how bad the state of the industry is in.

I've been speaking as loud as I can for YEARS about how industry workers are DYING FROM OVERWORK and the labor shortage accelerating problems
There are more anime in production than the existing labor force in the anime industry can handle. As production jobs get outsourced from much needed overhaul with how things operate on a day to day and the long term, that's less work for Japanese animators to earn BY THE FRAME
